I am staring at a stack of original Poe artwork that we plan to auction off. My question is... should I put all of these auctions up pretty much now, or should I space them out? Which items should I post first? Here's what I've got:

The first items are all from the past year and a half or so. Things like random aborted poster ideas, original lineart from a few prints, etc. They're all inked, and most of them have appeared in some form or another online. These would be auctioned individually, one at a time, so you'd be able to decide on a case by case basis if you're interested in bidding. Obviously, it's original art, so it'd ship signed, and in the case of the lineart for prints it would include a copy of the finished print.

I also have a stack of REALLY OLD sketchbook pages, ranging from a few years before EN to the present day. Most of the pages are the old kind, though. These will be auctioned in a grab-bag fashion, where each page is an item and folks can buy however many pages from the same auction. Which page you get would be totally random, but they'd all be signed.

I also have two more giant one-of-a-kind banners (one of Meji, one of Jordan).

Input would be welcome. I'm curious what people think.

^-^'

I'm not really sure how they should be spaced out, specifically, but I'd suggest spacing them out a bit one way or another. If you dump them all on the market all at once, people are going to focus on one or two big auctions (like the wallscrolls) and the little ones (like the sketch grab-bags) will get ignored. Plus, people who would otherwise buy or bid on multiple items are going to run out of money.

On the other hand, the advantage for you of putting all the auctions up at once is that you get all the money at once... Hmm... This is harder than I thought...

If you're hurting for money, auction half at once, half later. If you're doing it to supplement, I would definitely piece it out. You'd make more money letting it slip in little bits and people that might be focused on something huge would spend their money on the little bits too, rather than putting all their stock into the huge things (like the wallscrolls).

I suggest for the big banners, to space them out by a month to 6 weeks each, to give time for people to build up disposible income to bid on the next one. For the artwork, I suggest a few items every few days to allow variety, while still keeping folk interested (like when the comic updates, link the latest auctions). As for the sketchbooks, put out a new batch every week.

The more items you have up at once, the more you are competing against yourself.

I'm kinda itching to see what the Jordan banner looks like, to be honest.

Better phrased than I could ever word. The key is a balance between variety, and not screwing yourself out of bids.
