Well, Meji, one reason you bury the dead is that it provides nice essential nutrients to the local plant life, whereas the ashes of cremated bodies choke the life out of trees!

It's all about environmentalism, you self-centered (hot) bitch.

Seeing as how they live in a flying city, Tsuirakushitians probably just throw the ashes to the wind.

Can't ashes be used as fertilizer for some kinds of plants? I mean, I seem to recall something called "slash and burn agriculture"...

Burning uses up energy, they won't be very good as a nutrient source after that though certain minerals and such would become more readily accessible.

Fertilisers are not all the same, some kinds add deficient minerals or elements, others are basically food. There are as different kinds of fertilisers as there are minerals and elements that plants and stuff need.

Slash and burn agriculture does two major things for the poor farmer; First it renders some of the minerals and elements bound up into the existing flora and fauna into ashes which can then be easily plowed into the soil for use as fertiliser. Second, it gets rid of the dense underbush, it is very very hard work clearing jungle for agriculture, slash and burn increase the amount of acres that can be worked at a 'economically low' cost.

I was at a scattering of ashes where that happened. I can taste those ashes to this day.

Ahhh...that reminds me: I need to watch "The Big Lebowski" again. It's been too long without The Dude. Thankfully though, I am an ordained priest of the Church of the Latter-Day Dude.

I know it's off topic, but do you think it's a sign when the two authors spell out Forrest Whitaker?

For those of you who don't know who that is, he is located here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001845/

Waaaay back in Jr High School I was "madly in love" (read "had a huge crush on"... sadly unreciprocated... and unconsummated) a girl with the last name Whitaker. Soon thereafter I found out about that guy Forrest Whitaker and thought it was some sort of sign...

Yes. Go see The Last King of Scotland.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; or, slightly related to the comic, The Crying Game.

Hi, first post. Long time reader, love the comic. Check it daily (even though it updates three times a week.)

I think it's very possible that Ian will try to revive his sister. The story about that dude who tried to reanimate his wife by using the pokegods power is known by Ian. Ian might get the idea that if he has enough magical power to change the physical makeup of a person to reform broken lungs into working ones, he might be able to revive her.

I'm thinkin'; if he does, in fact, revive her, will she be cogent? Cognitive? I mean, most religions say that your soul goes someplace when you die. What happens if your body is suddenly alive again? Does it (the soul) get pulled back? Or will Ian have to go on some sortof spirit journey to piss off the gods and get his sister back?

That was a bit longer than I wanted my first post to be...

Oh to the wells.

Does Riley look like a guy in panel 4 to you ppl?

I think that's somewhat intentional, and it's a tribute to Poe's artistic talents that he can pull it off to subtly. He can draw someone with clearly feminine features (boobies!), dressed effeminately, and yet still convey masculine physical characteristics by sight alone (as opposed to just through her actions or abilities; Xena has "masculine physical characteristics" to the extent that she's got strength and other physical abilities usually considered masculine, but she doesn't look masculine at all).

Riley seems to be essentially a guy with tits in a feminine gender role, rather than a woman who happens to also have a cock. Hence the squarish, straight, boyish frame. If you ignored the tits and the fact that she dresses like a girl, Riley would look just like a boy, which is wholly appropriate for the character, I think.

Unfortunately it's also why I'm not so into her except for the novelty of the tits-and-cock combo. I like 'em with girlish curves, even when they've got a 6x9 hanging between their legs.

I would still hit it. So. Fucking. Hard.
And if you think you wouldn't, you are decieving yourself. Have two beers and think on the matter again.

Oddly enough, she'd be my type of guy if she didn't have the tits, but not really my type of girl if she didn't have the cock. (Not that I wouldn't do her anyway given the chance, just that given the choice of either her or, say, Sarine... if I couldn't have both...). Guess I want at least girly curves (meaning more than just tits) or a nice cock... if you're just a cockless boy with some tits on you, you're not really anything special to me.

Fortunately for Riley, she's got one of those two required features, and a passable pair of knockers at that. So yeah. I'd hit that.

Speaking of shapes, kudos to Poe for drawing Leah without warrior muscle tone in the screen saver. Smart, polite, nice smile, glasses, lace cuffs and soft curves. Also, her own rifle. In other words, a typical traditional rural Midwestern grade school teacher.

Never mind "hitting it," that's "hit it, keep it, marry it."

Actually, aside from the rifle, I did marry it. Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!

If rural Midwestern grade school teachers are really just like Riley, I'm moving my ass out to Kansas to get me some... er... 'schooling'...
