Why are we assuming that she did do it ?
Burning the house down has always been the classic way to hide a crime.

/Secret magical ninja elven lesbian death squad looking for Ian did it

I like the idea of a secret elven lesbian deathsquad - sounds secksy - but you'd'a thought they'd'a left a calling card. I'm for the boiling-potatoes-with-no-water option, and not because I've almost been there, almost did that, almost got the teeshirt. Sometimes there are no other ways out, unless you flip to the light-side.

You know, I could see Ian doing something stupid, like trying to resurect the dead.

All the Best,

Nani?

There comes a time in every man's life where he must cry over the ones who did horrible deaths while he was out sucking Goddess juice.

This is Ian's time.

Everyone who does something stupid or horrible thinks they have a sound reason for doing it.

Tamerlane, whose armies butchered hundreds of millions of people back in Ye Olden Days, claimed, sincerely, that he did it all in self-defense.

Large or small, the atrocities leave the rest of us standing over the graves wondering who's in charge, either in the universe or inside our heads.

Anyone familiar with the late, lamented Queen of Wands knows the answer, actually. Can't blame Ian for not having read that, though.

Incidentally, the layout of the two graves suggests another entertaining plot twist. Suppose Ian actually is capable of raising the dead and performs it on his sister's grave. But owing to a screwup (bodies "burned beyond recognition" are easily confused, after all), it's not his sister that's in the grave thus emptied, but his mom. Who arises from the grave as a fully alive, and physically functional, but suicidally violent and magically indestructible, revenant who starts wiping out Santuariel...

Nah.

He's just coming to grips with the raw amount of power he has. And it ain't lookin' pretty. When you can wipe out all life on the planet on a whim, impulsive behavior in general isn't a good idea.

Just think of all the really bad things that could seem like a good idea?
-> Raising his mom or sister.
-> Raising the whole graveyard.
-> Why does anyone *need* to die anyway?
-> I blame the elves. I should create an army of walking corpses and eat them.

More bad things that seem like good ideas

--A new gender for all races!
--Screaming food.
--I'm sure Ian thinks there are far too little tentacle monsters in the world.
--Same for schoolgirls.
--Ian has always wanted to be a girl. While this isn't -bad-, per se, it would fuck Meji over. And not the good kind.
--Carrot Top.

As I've said, I'm waiting for him to flip out and raise an undead army. Or, you know, his sister. He'd leave his mom to rot though. Fucking whore.

my first post. i feel so special.

maybe ian won't try and raise his sister or mother. maybe with his new found powers he will find he can communicate with them.
find out the reason behind their deaths. be that suicide or murder.

Alright what's the chance that a group of murderers who have a proper MOTIVE against Ian would know the EXACT M.O. that would leave almost no questions as to the culprit of both his relative's deaths?

That is to say, would Ninjas, Elven, Time or otherwise, have taken careful research of this Half Elf and his family life (while resisting the urge to simply wipe out the whole town [In the case of elves]), and concocted such a likely act that his Mom would commit in order to, what, destabilize and demoralize Ian?

Shit that would take arrogance to TRY and take out Ian, all hopped up on Goddess juice. And that level of Arrogance wouldn't yield such a carefully and well executed conspiracy.

Seriously, you guys are grasping for straws. Ian showed callous disregard to his mentally unstable mother, and his mother ended up killing the only reason he had to accomplish his semi-recent feat. It's appropriately tragic and ironic, which will leave Ian with several throws of guilt (I should have helped Mom, I could have come back sooner, I could have asked someone to look after them, ect).

It's a great plot device without another twist.

Forget about that conspiracy, I'm still waiting for Ellis to break the big news to Ian about who his real father is.

deus ex machina

I'm not saying it would ...
then again Ian's current powers (time distortion amongst them?) could cover any number of plot-holes ... if Errant Story had them that is ...
