Say, the music on the Black Sheep website is actually a pretty good* companion to this strip. Check it out:

(*After the stupid sheep does its thing, I mean. Anyone recognize the tune they used? Worth downloading, I think.)

They say the eyes are the mirrors/windows to the soul, perhaps that is why he says she's empty. However, it looks as though her facial expresions do change, so there must be something in there.

I'm really interested to see which direction Poe is going to take this.

Of course she's empty; that's the whole point. Go back and read this strip, paying particular attention to the sentence that Kawaii got cut off in the middle of. The ghoddess seems to have gotten what she wanted here.

That's what I think too. There is something there but i have no words for what it is, perhaps some kind of consciousness? She did seem to recognize Ian. Now, if there is nothing there then her body would be perfect host for Anilis.

Hi everyone, I am lured away from lurking by yet another exciting turn in the Poe universe. Good work!

Back here, before they head up the hill, you can see his hands are clearly ungloved. Also, here, you can see unadorned hands.

I'd also take Meji's comment of "you're bleeding!" that he's tearing the skin from his hands/burning them with the force of the energies he's manipulating.

I'd go with Meji and a fence post to the back of the head, or he's gonna immolate himself.

Dang it, Ian, just blow yourself up already.

Was sort of right about Lina Inverse reference! now all he has to do is do just that, unless he decides to go overdrive and try to put soul into her.

edit: btw I am a looong time lurker and trying to see for how long can I get away with Lina Inverse references in every post.

I think Lina Inverse being banged by Sarine, Sarna and Meji would be awesome.

:-x As long as they gag her. Damn, but she's loud.

An undead sister is fine too.

A sister is never fine...unless she's someone else's sister and not mine.

So was I.

Also, is it just me, or is the font of his second "NO!" in the last panel different?

That's Ian's "scary evil voice".

I imagine it something like the voice of a Goa'uld from Stargate... or Galadriel when she goes psycho bitch in the Fellowship of the Rings.

I suppose that it is too late for Meji to clobber him over the head?

It's never too late to clobber someone.

...And where did Evelyn get that shirt?

I too thought it was a shirt at first, but on closer examination it's just the contours of her collarbone and a wisp of hair...

Something just occurred to me.

If Ian explodes, what happens to Anilis? Trapped in a fragged body, or freed and looking for a new one? Hmm... what's a nearby body...

Edit: I was thinking Meji there, not Evelyn, who I imagine would be likewise exploded by any event which would explode Ian at this point. Though it would also be an interesting turn of affairs to have Lyn's body - sans memories or personality - suddenly animated and with godlike powers. Meji'd be stuck tending what's basically an infant with nukes.

One way or another, it's pretty sure not to turn out that Anilis comes back as herself in full force (say in Lyn's body), or that Ian is able to harness the full extent of her powers (even so far as to bring back the dead). Having a bona-fide god-incarnate walking around makes for a rather hard time in writing an interesting story, and as I recall, we're not even half way through this story yet.

I think, if it were my work being commented on this way, at one of the most pivotal and emotional moments in the work, it might bother me a little.

The characters are going through emotional hell right now, and a lot of the commentary seems to come to down people calling for more group sex and random massive destruction.

Now I see where your name comes from. (Joking, joking, calm down...).

This place is full of pervs and wackos who will turn anything into an excuse to call for more sex and violence - myself being one of them at times. But there's also people commenting on the quality of the artwork, the great expressions on the characters faces' - i.e. how powerfully well this story is being presented - and still others engaged in the constant running literary analysis and speculation. Even the "pervs and wackos" do some of that deep stuff too, and I'm sure even those who don't express it feel it to some extent, otherwise they wouldn't still be reading. There's not enough sex and violence in ES to keep people just interested in those things around (unless, I suppose, they're really desperate and don't know how to work the interweb very well), so you can assume that anyone here appreciates qualities other than those in Poe's work.

That's what this place is. Pervs and wackos admiring beautiful artwork and an intricate and emotional story, and analyzing the whole thing, while at the same time making jokes about cock and boobies and cracks about "anal-izing the hole-thing". (Sorry, I couldn't resist). It's great.

I'd rather drown myself in a bucket of Labrat's semen than make a joke that lame.
