I predict Sara convinces Sarine to let her stay through the magic of hot lesbian sex.

Which college? (I suspect I'm at the wrong one...)

If you must know, it was a teaching college in the tiny state of South Carolina -- that's right, folks, there is a SOUTH Carolina. I'll admit, I too, was surprised by this knowledge.

Actually, it's not hard to figure out what the college is, since it's the one of the premier teaching colleges in the US.

And there's this big joke that anyone attending must be gay -- and it's almost entirely true, from my experience. If I wasn't a lesbian before that, I'm sure I'd have had to become one out of sheer necessity.

They did not set him up to be killed per se. He was just disposable enough to be sent into a probable trap.

You must have hit upon a new and wonderful definition of 'set up to be killed', as opposed to the old one that's synonymous with 'being sent into a probable trap (and nobody mentions it's probably a trap until they're sure you've left the room)'.

Well there is a slight difference between actively trying to kill him and not caring if he dies. The fact that a member of the order was actually killed no matter how is bound to intrigue them.

It is indeed a subtle but powerful difference. Also, the certainly did warn him that there was a high probability that it was a trap. Gabriel considered it a high-risk assignment and that Jon was expendible enough to be assigned, which he was also straight with.

Not to mention actually capturing one. The Wraiths would be having oragsms if they could get Sara into interrogation and find out what makes her tick*. Jon and Sarine both know this (Elves would also like to get their mitts on Sara). It's a good-thing that Jon doesn't trust his own organization.

*Bad pun intentional :-P

Ah. My college is in the Carolina of the more northerly persuasion. Big Engineering/Agricultural college (great mix, huh?), predominantly male.

Out here in California, we've got a school called CalPoly in San Luis Obispo, with the very interesting mix of focuses in engineering, agriculture, and theology.

Since the school is almost bigger than the town it's in, this mix also leads to quite an interesting mix of people on-campus and off. While the town has an overall appearance of being a very conservative Christian backwater surrounded by nothing but farmland, there's also large number of people (mostly engineering or compsci students from what I gather) forming a large underground of goths, punks, geeks, hippies, beatniks, ravers, bohemians, and just about every eccentric little subcultural vein you can think of, all mixed together into a crowd that called themselves the SLO Punks. This also reflects somewhat in the downtown shops, where you can find novelty and vintage clothing stores within blocks of bible shops. I find the contrast deliciously odd.
