It's official. Dr. Rockso, like the Arc from Indiana Jones, has the power to melt the face off of Nazis.

That's the ARK, not the ARC. The latter situation is more common, of course. My uncle had part of his foot melted off when backed his dump truck into a high voltage line and stepped off the truck to see what the problem was. Generated quite an arc between the ground and his shoe.

See, to me "Ark" indicates "Boat" as in "Storehouse of Noah's Animals where he decided that the Unicorns and Dragons were to become extinct because he was a prejudiced bastard".

Whereas "Arc" I associate with "Archive", as in "Storehouse of knowledge, which I might hopefully one day be able to access provided that I have time enough at last and my glasses don't break."

Plus, I'm an author, and am therefore exempt from having to spell things correctly. Just ask my editor or my agent.

You are correct, sir!

Main Entry: arc
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: curve
Synonyms: arch, bend, bow, crescent, curvation, curvature, half-moon, round
Antonyms: line, straight line
Notes: ark is a large, commodious boat and arc is something shaped like a curve or arch; a segment of a circle

No more late-night CIV III for me, I guess.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure the Ark of the Covenant was spelled with a "k". At least when you're using the Roman alphabet; no idea how it's written in Hebrew.

Wait, why am I running off memory? There's a Bible, like, ten feet from me...

Yeah, it's spelled with a "k".

Yet my dividers fail to produce an arc of sufficient power to ignite paper

Yeah, diksionaries. Their big and a PITA. I'm a poet, I too fail to fall before their shock and awe. Even though I've got about 10, um, 12 of the things. And yesterday, I bought a Kanji Learner's Dictionary. I need a tag around my neck: "Do not sell books to this man."

But, srsly, Arc and Ark - an excellent pun. I might put it to use somewhere.

Thanks. The purity of my arrogance is re-affirmed. Perhaps I can get a job as a network pundit or TV lawyer.

Pretty sure authors are only exempt from having to spell things correctly in the first draft that they don't show anyone.

After that, it's a deal breaker.

Unless you write a webcomic. Then you get to spell atrociously and just make threads for your loyal fans to point out all the typos so you can quietly go back and start cleaning up the errors during down time when you don't have any more important (see: profitable) work to do.
