I've never had a problem with cats barfing, except for the one who lived mostly in the basement and kept eating the insulation for some reason. That one kept pissong on the couch down there, though. That cat also took a dump in my room shortly after she was declawed. No worries with any of the other cats I've had, though.

Actually, yes. Female cat urine is bad enough, but they don't have the same projectile power of the male cats. Also, it doesn't smell as strong, since apparently male cat urine contains more marking stuffs.

It's called spay before they spray. Solves the problem nicely. They don't even spray, if you time it right.

Jack went to the Big Important Vet Appointment on Monday. He appears to be adjusting well, though the other two kitties are still rearranging the social order, and have to be allowed to explore the house in turns to avoid chaos and a starved Morgan-kitty.

Cat doesn't use urine to mark their territory, at least most of the domestic cat doesn't use urine.
Instead they use marking-pheromone produce by gland, and they (the marking pheromone) are secreted right behind theirs ears.

If fact, each single time they rub their head on furniture, wall or even you, they mark them (and you) as their possessions, theirs territories.

And humans think that's all about affection and tenderness...

Males probably don't drink enough water. Water makes urine smell not as bad (because it's not as concentrated, see?).

Oh, I'm quite aware of that. I had many toms in my life. I could go on for hours about the pros of spaying/neutering. Not the right place for that.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. The biological function of sex is to make babies, but humans don't always, or necessarily even often, think "I wish to produce offspring, therefore I will {inject my semen into a woman's uterus|get a man to inject his semen into my uterus}" (and other animals almost certainly don't). They just think "oh wow that feels good more plz thx".

Cats could be, and probably are, the same way. The biological function of rubbing pheromones all over the place is to make that place smell like the one who did all the rubbing; but what's going through the cat's head is probably more like "oh yeah that's nice, right there, prrrrrr"

He certainly hasn't been fixed, having "helped" a female cat in heat here.
