Maybe Sara forgoes trivial conversation, and prefers to express herself through action? I won't pretend to know that I know anything about her beyond what anyone else here does, but I will stand by my opinion on the Sara-Ian issue.

@karma; I was stepped on, so I grew some thorns. Not everyone thinks hard enough before reaching into a rose bush.

I bet Sara is the sort of person who makes good conversation, if you actually prove you're worth it. Meji at least, hasn't been any more, or less, annoying than she was with Jon.

I don't think Sara is the kind to make any conversation at all. With her monk teacher, she was pretty quiet and to the point. She hardly finished her sentences at all.

With Chris, the longest conersation we've seen yet, she just let him know that he was deluding himself and that the teachers hated him and killed his father. She didn't offer any kind words, or seem to care much about it. That's not 'good conversation'.

With Jon she just had a little outburst and then went back to quiet mode. With Sarine she hardly spoke at all. When they arrived in Tsuirakushiti she simply answered a question.

So, she either has a standard for "good enough for conversation" that noone in the story so far has met, or she just isn't into the whole 'conversation' thing too much.

Sara's spent a long time in an environment where the least inattentiveness or the wrong word can get you killed. She spends all her time watching out for danger and spends very little on idle thought or conversation. With Meji, she's expecting that something's going to jump out from nowhere and kill Meji, at any time. When Sara walks away, she's also consciously removing her protective watchfulness, saying that Meji is now on her own.

It's curious and interesting that Jon's the same way. Did the Wraiths practice similar training procedures (perhaps not quite as severe)?

Yes, this implies that the conversation between Jon and Sara is as good as it gets and is the assassin equivalent of three months of mutual therapy, with equivalent results. :-D They may actually be okay with each other now :-D

Sarine knows this and her constant tease of Jon is the equivalent of love-taps. Sarine's also trying to cure both of them and make them more human again. Possible future Sarine, Jon, and Sara manage a troi?

Is it just me, or is Meji still getting younger? By that last panel, I'd say she's about ten years old.

I thought that was about the vibrator gags. Oh well, short memory.

1) Sara, because of her training, is one step away from being completely dysfunctional in a social setting. It's amazing to me that she is still able to emote at all. However, I do see the signs there. Zherical: That level of training, in civilized societies, is a level of child abuse that you can't even begin to imagine. Because of her training, Sara is 21 going on 40.

2) Jon, because of his training and profession, is 25 going on about 50, and only because he had a head start on Sara. He can relate to Sara, barely.

3) Sarine, 3000 year old Elf, nuf said. Definitely the parental role here.

4) Meji, who normally hangs around with those who are her physical age, she's 17 going on 14. Physcally and mentally immature. Ellis doesn't help her there either. The conversation sequence is something I have seen in my daughter's friends, when my daughter was about 13-14! By 17, it got much better. (my daughter is 25 now)

5)Miyo, 30-something going on 19. Meji's only role model that isn't her grandfather. If she'd really had her shit together, she'd have never got Meji that damned cat, for the same reasons that I wouldn't let my daughter watch "Arnold" and "The Simpsons". It's hard enough to keep them from becoming dysfunctional as it is, without showing them bad examples disguised as acceptable behavior. Sara has no way to "get" Meji. They're not even in the same dimension.

Meji is the snot-nosed brat and she will soon have an opportunity to grow up, maybe a bit faster than she wants.

Chuck in Meji, and it'll be worth it.

A certain irony there about an elf trying to make humans more human. I take your point though.

Umm... evidence would seem to point that Sara has no temper to speak of.

Er, what evidence was that?

One single outburst, which did not even include epithets but instead a demand for an answer, from a person that went through as much hardship as she did, towards the person she holds mainly responsible? That's not a temper. That's just proof that she has a pulse.

A person with a [bad] temper would have been screaming from long before, and for a lot longer. If anything, that's even more evidence that Sara doesn't have a temper. She can loose her cool under extreme circumstances, but she doesn't have a temper.

C'est "ménage à trois", merci bien mon ami. Je pense que Slamlander parler deux ou trois langues? Peut-être une petite erreur. Ou une blague.

That was definitely a pent-up outburst, held-back over the years. Guess I'd be a little ticked in the same situation.

I think he's Dutch, living in Switzerland, so he speaks at least two maybe as many as four languages. (dutch, english, german and french (maybe)).

Yes, a USASCII PC104 from Logitech. [lj user="Salegamine"] has the Swiss one. But, she doesn't deal at BIOS or bash level ;)

That's no excuse. Just press ALT+130 to get é. Look around for a bit to find the others, I don't remember them all.
