I recall someone asking about the new bookmarks. Here's this month's:

<img src="http://www.errantstory.com/feh/bookmark.jpg">

I should note that whether or not the new bookmark design is actually up at the time of donating, that's going to be the bookmark that everyone who donates that month will get. The system we have is very helpful, but not terribly sophisticated about sorting, and it's just easier to declare "this bookmark, this month."

Hope that info helps.

I think that's me you're remembering... and maybe it's just an error in your post, but that looks like last month's bookmark. Or is this month's the same as last month's?

I've been waiting for the new bookmark to show up to donate, to make sure I don't just get two Rileys (as much fun as two Rileys could be...), but if it doesn't matter what the page says, just what month you donate, I'll just make the donation now and be surprised by what the bookmark is.

Looks different here. Unless I'm missing something. Try completely clearing your browser's cache and looking again.

I uploaded the new bookmark image and just overwrote the old bookmark image, so yeah, it's probably just that you have the old image cached.

This month's is a pretty picture of Meji looking vaguely coquettish.

Edit: Also, this one and the Viradior are both so pretty that we are breaking down and making 50 extra of each... so they aren't actually limited editions of 100, they're limited editions of 150. Not that it matters, since they're un-numbered anyways and they're also, well... just bookmarks, you know?

*Donates*

You say the idea is to print up 100 bookmarks each month, Impy? Out of curiosity, what happens if 110 people donate ten to fifteen dollars each? I know you're the type to plan this stuff out, so there's going to be some reasonable answer... I am merely intrigued.

Also, there's a question I have regarding the donation wallpapers, but I don't want to stray too far off topic, if it wouldn't be acceptable.

If 110 people donate fifteen dollars each at this point, I do a happy little dance and then go pay our monthly mortgage payment.

Okay, more seriously (not that the response above wasn't 100% accurate and true)... If more than the expected number of people donate (which almost happened with the Viradior bookmark, since the drive was still on), then I'd have to e-mail each of the people who got there too late and tell them as nicely as possible that they'd be getting the next design instead, just like it says on the donations page.

OR, in the case of this particular bookmark and a few others where the art seems likely to be popular, I'll just make 150 rather than 100 to start with, just as I said I would in an earlier post. And, for future bookmarks, just to avoid confusion, I'll put a number under the bookmark image so that people will know how many of that particular bookmark I made for that month.

Incidentally, the reason we chose 100 as the number in the first place is just because that's how many lamination pouches are in each box. Now, what was the wallpaper question?

Thank you, that was almost exactly what I expected as an answer (along with the happy dance.)

The wallpaper question is this: How much would it take to have the wallpapers released in a 16:10 aspect ratio? Such as 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 (which is what my screen displays). There's two sorts of answer to this question: Both how much effort would it take to format the wallpapers to those resolutions, and how much would it take on behalf of the fans before you did? (As it is, I always save all the different sizes. When I have my second display running, I'll have somewhere to put the 1600x1200 copies.)

Since all wallpapers are originally created as 8 x 10 print files at 300-600 dpi, it's not that much extra work to create a different wallpaper size.

However, we do try to limit how big the wallpapers we offer get, because we like having a built-in stopping point for decent print quality. It's part of protecting the copyrights for the image. Practically speaking, once something goes up online it's pretty much gone, but by keeping the output size low we make sure the quality is degraded if someone tries to make prints from it. Of course, this isn't so much to protect from the fans, whom we trust not to do that sort of thing, but to protect from other people who will steal an artist's work and claim it as their own.
