Ah! You see, everyone else's metaphors are all too recent. Luminosita is what happens when E. Gary Gygax and the Boys From Lake Geneva get together and create a real god instead of a gamer's god. Jack Chick was right all along!

Without knowing how the match is going to end up, I'm wondering about Luminosita's legitimacy as a god. He clearly has super-human powers, and even super-mage powers. Just because his origin is man-made, does that make him any less legitimate? If he has the power to fight other gods (if you consider Ian to be one) then what makes him not a god?

Even if he loses, one god being stronger than other wouldn't make the other not a god; just not the strongest god. If my brother can beat me up, it doesn't mean I'm not a 'true' human.

I imagine the biggest strike against him is that he had to be summoned; you'd imagine a real god would come on his own when seeing his beloved people under attack. Or even preventing it in the first place.

Seems to me that the most important difference is that based on prior description, Luminosita is not sentient nor was he ever, whereas the source of Ian's power was an independent thinking being, at least at some point in it's history.

Unless it's in the States, there is no lake Geneva. The city of Geneva is on the shores of the Lac Leman, which is shared between Switzerland and France.

Lake Geneva is indeed in the States- southeastern Wisconsin, to be precise. Gary Gygax lives there. Also, GenCon used to be held there.

There's a good chance he's merely clean-shaven. Although, since the people who designed his appearance were likely "distinguished" old men, he's probably clean-shaven just to make them feel better about their own deficiency in hair.

. . . On account of that's the town wherein TSR invented Dungeons & Dragons. No monument, as far as I know. Also, the first Playboy Club was opened there back around, IIRC, 1960. No relation between the two events.

Do we know ANY of this? Maybe I missed something way back when, but this looks like speccing about spec based on more spec.

Hmm. If I held the remote control for something like that without having a fucking clue how it worked, which these goons almost certainly do not, I would be perpetually be afraid that Mr. Glowey would give himself freewill. Magic is generally portrayed as having self organizational properties, similar to life or an emergent AI. And, in several thousand years, crap happens. Coding, or whatever passes for coding, is corrupted or forced to adapt... orders are misinterpreted. Fun.

Based on?

I mean, we juge and make those comment on how magic is seen here, in the multitude of fantasy created in our world.

It is unfair to assume/and to blame character of the comics/ based on our views of those thing, specially since they have and have seen magic for century, where none of us (or for most of us) had a real experience with a physical contact with energy that could be describ as magic.

What part of unfounded speculation don't you understand?

I'd say the guy who summoned Luminosita is the first member of the human or Elvish hierarchies in the story who actually has his act together. He read the situation clearly and acted decisively. If he lives through this, I say give him a promotion and I'll have him over to speak to our Sunday school classes.

I'm not saying its not a good gamble... I would certainly exploit him for all hes worth.
I'm just be thankful that, being a mere human, I will likely already be long dead before the shit hits the fan.

Well, aside from this, there is also a panel, which I haven't found yet, where Meji talks about Luminosita and labels it a Pokegod.

Yes, this does indicate a part of the Wiki that needs work.

Actually the wiki does pretty well, here, since that page links to the page on Shiro Hideaki which has what you want (4 separate panels in which Meji's professor, Meji, and Sarine all disparaging Luminosita's pokegoditude).
