"When the buffalo fight, the mice are trampled . . ."

Okay, first panel is Ian's battered face, second is him flying out of the blast area, third he is recomposing himself, fourth is . . . a giant anthropic energy form with a torch and hand axe, bald head, forked beard, and a really snappy outfit.

Sucks to be from that town.

OK, I finaly got second panel, it's Luminosita's hand with the sword hiting Ian and throwing him away. First I tought it was the roof of the dome.

I'm not so sure that Ian is bleeding in the first panel. Sure, he gets knocked for a loop, but it should be interesting to see just how much power he has within his mortal frame right about now.

I still think that bringing out Luminosita at this stage is an overplay on the part of the church. It shows just how dependent they are on their trump card to get them out of whatever mess they find themselves in.

I think it might be interesting if they actually sat down and had a chat right about now, just to throw the whole "when gods clash" cliche out the window.

And if Ian somehow manages defeat/convince Luminosita that his services are better appreciated elsewhere, all those countries that have been aching to take a piece out of Veracia are going to descend upon the country like jackals on carrion.

Ian's eyes leak some magic and blood, that's not good at all!

Also, the other poke-god is more like a human with hair and two shining axes.

Ho and all of this seem to me to be a "dragonball's" way to fight! And then the two of them will scream until on poop some freaking thing of super power, which can destroy the planet but in stead the just blow up the city.

Seen from the Veracian point of view, this doesn't look like overreaction at all. They've just suffered a massive surprise attack by an unseen (at least until the summoning) adversary of unknown but obviously enormous capabilities. Under those conditions you do not screw around with half measures, you put up your maximum defense. You can always put the genie back in the bottle later.

Wait. Can you? Political analogy struggling to emerge here ...

Without knowing how the match is going to end up, I'm wondering about Luminosita's legitimacy as a god. He clearly has super-human powers, and even super-mage powers. Just because his origin is man-made, does that make him any less legitimate? If he has the power to fight other gods (if you consider Ian to be one) then what makes him not a god?

Even if he loses, one god being stronger than other wouldn't make the other not a god; just not the strongest god. If my brother can beat me up, it doesn't mean I'm not a 'true' human.

I imagine the biggest strike against him is that he had to be summoned; you'd imagine a real god would come on his own when seeing his beloved people under attack. Or even preventing it in the first place.

I think the probable difference is that Anilis and Senilis, and presumably Exitalis, were able to create life and change the world. Luminosita seems to be a projection of energy that's worshipped and brings prosperity because people pray to it. I doubt it creates life or could bring vast changes to the world, such as raising the dead (as Ian/Anilis did).

It's the difference between an actor and a sock-puppet. Luminosita is a sock-puppet of the Veracian Church. Luminosita has no freewill of its own nor does it have any initiative. Therefore, Luminosita is only a pretend god.

Luminosita is an artefact like an M1Abrams tank is an artefact. Neither are real gods but both can turn you into a jelly smear.

Second thought, damn, luminosita looks like Moradin... where did they dig up their pokegod?
