*glances around* Am I really the first?

Ahh well it would appear that things are not going so well in the slighlty more stable safe room. Also that ole Lumie seems to have an Area of Effect feel good spell goin to keep the masses placated

In keeping with multiple traditions...

Thread title should have been "Where is your god now?"

Okay, enough of that. Joke is dead, stop poking it.

Also, the priestess's face has exactly the same panicked expression I had the last time I misplaced my evil twin (don't worry, I found him again). Maybe she's panicking not because a calming effect from Luminosita was dissipated, but because she lost her actual connection to Luminosita, which she's used to feeling because she pumps energy into it all the time?

That's the line I was preparing and then a phone call came in, drat!

It's consistent with religious magic, where worshipers feed energy into a focus with a bit of positive feel good in exchange. Get rid of the focus and the feedback loop is broken.

It looks like I have a bit more wiki editing to do.

After two weeks of no internet, I come back to find that Ian, of all people, just killed a god.

That's fucking brilliant. The wussiest character in the story went anti-christ.

His Excellency is a poser. Either he is weak in magic or he hasn't bee feeding the god in a while.

Fraternal?

Yeah, the guy in charge is the last to realize what's going on.

Well, that's what happen when you over-stereotype. Ian's kicked more ass than anyone else is the story thus far, even before Anilis took over.

Question is, does Ian still exist in that shattered body?

I know Ian has killed people (in creative ways, too), but his demeanor is like a broken wagon..

Still limping along, if you pull hard enough.

The "Lord Father" has been served by a "punk kid".

Young 'uns these days, no respect for their elders. :P

I'm just imagining the looks on the priests faces when Ian re-enters and says "now where were we..."

The Church is going to go into damage control now. With one word Ian has changed the geo-political balance of power. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to try and make a deal with Ian to appear as Luminosita in half-elf form to the masses. (son of god, perhaps?) It would give new meaning to the term "Jesus complex".

I'm also realizing that Ian isn't bleeding so much as he used to. He used to get drained just from healing a couple of sick people. Now he starts bleeding when he dispels a god. It seems like the use of his power is like exercise - his body is slowly learning to accommodate the powers vested within him.

Now imagine when news of the assault reaches the Elven delegation in Tsuiraku. I think they'll be pulling out of there real quick. I wonder if the effects of Luminosita's dispell would reach all the way out there?

Who is the guard slouching against the wall with a very knowing look on his face?

Yep, seems like Jerry's been faking it for quite a while. Head of the Veracian church of False Gods, corrupt? Surely not! ::tongue in cheek::

The safe room was either right under or very near to where Luminosita went all pear-shaped. Where's the earth-shattering boom? Window-breaking and wall-cracking is not nearly as impressive.

The safe room was supposed to be built on the roof to give the patriarch a good view of whatever impending doom he would face, but the conservationists complained that it would ruin priceless works of art.

So they had no choice but to use the deepest of the dungeons.

HAH. At first glance that third panel looks like it says...

HUMMBBLLE

I know it's not, but I got a massive kick out of it for awhile. It would work. In fact, that noise could be called the "Humble Rumble". The vibration that emits when your god dies.

If Lumi' is just a magical construct there's always the chance that they could make another one. Still I've a feeling that above ground might be a giant smoking crater, in which case whether there was anyone left to witness the dispelling is an interesting matter.

I distinctly remember Anita complaining that the Veracians weren't as good at magecraft as they once were. They've been steadily killing off their mage genes by mandated celebacy. That makes Veracia a large pool of mundanes, with less than the normal distribution of mage genes.

Even Hiroshima and Nagasaki had survivors.
