"...and then went back to Joseph and they had lots and lots of kids after Jesus was born? Means that Joseph was *really* well hung."

Quote-of-the-day courtesy of me! I rock.

Also, while we're on the topic of gods... to commemorate the at-least-for-the-time-being passing of his glowy goodness Luminosita, I felt compelled to put a little something together.

(I'll make the image viewable here once I figure out how...)

Anybody else have any loving tributes to everyone else's favorite fake fallen god that they'd like to share?

Dear Luminosita, you were a pain in the ass to shade. I hate you and I'm glade you were killed by a poorly developed, metrosexual-magneto-sephiroth-nategrey-angsty-overpowered-anime-teenager knock-off.

You can use HTML in your posts, unless that "Disable HTML" box down below is checked. If it's not, a simple IMG SRC="http://www.vikingspace.com/forums/download.php?mode=view&id=1" within a pair of < and > should do it. Like so:

<IMG SRC="http://www.vikingspace.com/forums/download.php?mode=view&id=1">

or so:

Actually the problem is much more complicated... I recently upgraded my Vikingspace.com forum to phpBB3, and one of the nice features is that it has a built in file upload manager instead of the old hack jobbie I'd built into revision 2.0.22 which we were using before.

The new uploader is far nicer and has a bunch of built in safety features... like preventing you from using someone else's forum as little more than a file server for your own personal needs, hosting siggys and pictures through attachments and uploads that don't even get used on that board.

The bad news is that... well... I had a tendancy to do just that. I mean, they're my forums, it's my website, so if I do it myself, it's not bad, right? Unfortunately, try convincing phpBB3 of that. It's like friggin' Robocop. It wants to protect and serve me, no matter how hard I try to convince it otherwise.

So... while it displays an image on my site, I can't locate (from the outsite) what the actual address of the image is located at... all you can get without rummaging through the sitefiles is the "http://www.vikingspace.com/forums/download.php?mode=view&id=1/ " is clickable but isn't a proper imagefile to display. When I go home, I'll properly FTP the image to my usual hidey hole for images and then relink this to the actual image instead of the download.php script.

Odd; so did my IMG tag not display properly for you? Cause I previewed before I wrote anything and it worked fine, still displays fine over here. Maybe I've just got it cached or something.

Yeah... I'm still gettin' double red x's over on my end.

Eh... phpBB3 is still teh awesome, even if it does have it's occasional excentricities. And you should see the things you can do with the skins... oh, wait, you will... tee hee hee.

well I, for one, never clicked on viking's link* yet was able to see the in-line posted pictures. And they're great.

*It's lovely being behind a filter which makes you afraid to go to sites on the chance that you'll come across the giant BLOCKED page and feel guilty (even though nothing much happens because of it; but how would you like to be told by your work computer that you were trying to go to an "ADULT", "ILLEGAL", "TASTELESS" site when you know the site wasn't?)

At work now, from which I never clicked your link, and the embedded images load fine for me over here.

I wonder if it's not a browser issue instead... I'm on a Mac using Safari (so my x's, when they appear at all, are blue, not red). I've noticed a penchant for Mac browsers to display images that sometimes fail to load on Windows. AVM and Shteven, what are you each browsing with?

You are a dumbass for logging on here from a work computer.

Agreed. I've seen more than one person get fired for non-work-related Internet activity, from their work machine. I wouldn't have thought that, that needed to be said, in this day and age.

It should be fine if they do it while they're compiling.

It was apparently just that computer. It's been having some problems lately, so I'm going to choose to believe that's the nature of the disconnect and not some inherent flaw in my own ability.

Also... the tombstone roxorz.

Impy's driving the final nail in on Monday the 27th, right before we're off to Dragon*Con. Until then, you're fine... however you may want to go 'play' with the new forums too, as they're rather nifty.

Yeah, I already registered. I'm trying to figure out how to load my avatar though (not yet mentioning my sig). Also, it'd be a real bitch to go through the newby ranks again.

Both avatars and sigs are largely disabled for the time being... they'll be re-enabled once we've figured out which perks go with paid accounts and which perks don't.

And, a little bird mentioned to me that you at least won't have to worry about ranks.

^-^'

Firefox 2.0 with noscript installed.

As for logging in here from work being stupid, well, yeah, probably. ;)
