I ask that no flaming due to opinions take place, only that you post your own opinion and any other comments you have about ES.

Honestly, given Poe's history, how well do you think he will do ES if its-

A) Old style EN, with gags and halarity driven-plots
B) Plot-driven, mostly-serious story, ala the last act
C) Something inbetween

My own opionion:

A) Great
B) Horrible
C) So-so

Nah, I think it'll do well on any of em. Poe has enough talent to support any of the options, and there are enough people enjoy each to keep up the popularity.

A) Not so well
B) So-so
C) Probably the best option of the three.

In the case of A, I think he's already done enough on that subject that if he does more, it will just feel tired.

For B, I think it'd probably have a nice plot, but I don't think any of us, including Poe himself, could put up with completely depressing serious plot like Act 4 . . .

Which brings us to C. If you remember, the final Act of EN wasn't too serious. There was perverted humor laced throughout it, which made it pretty good for a story, and probably the first I laughed and cried at in the same breath. I liked the final Act better than all the others becuse of that.

Dark/perverted humor makes pretty much anything great. Wait and see.

my tastes are wide enough that i can read just about anything written by just about anything.

if it's funny, i'll laugh, if it's dead serious. i'll be absorbed, if it's inbetween, i'll get a bit of both.

and no matter what i'll be making wet stains in my underwear over the art.

C would be the best option, in my mind. There are plenty of decent gag-comics inspired by the original EN out there already, I don't want another one. The whole reason I loved EN was 'cos it attempted what other comics have tried to do (like Roadwaffles) but actually managed it. I gave a shit about the characters, and I didn't want to see bad stuff happen to them, and I thought that ruled. Most comics that try to do that just plain bore the shit out of you, or you have this nagging voice in the back of your head that is saying "everyone will get out alive except the guys with Red Shirts on, it'll be alright." So yeah, I hope ES' gonna be kinda like that. Obviously it won't be while the characters are being established, but yeah, I dig the tension. :D So yeah, I vote C. :)

As for the scenario, we don't really know what the scenario IS until the comic starts. ;)

I'd vote for C, the last act was well written but a lot of people here started reading EN because of the brilliant artwork and the perverse humour (admitadly I only really got into EN after reading through the Archives) the reason we stayed so long was because of the way that the plot was developed slowly maturing and growing until a formally wacky strip became a serious comic whose page we refreshed several hundred times an hour on Wednesday, Monday and Friday.
Keeping the comedy and the serousness will be difficult however as sometimes it can be detrimental to a story(eg Piro(and Largo in his day) makes/made most of the funniest strips in MT OSE(One Shot Episodes) because it didn't interupt the story too much).
However having all read the last chapter of EN I think we all know that Poe can pull it off.

Actor.
Sorry about the Spelling it was grand final night here in Aust. I have been drinking a little bit. Haven't had a drink in a couple of months, life sucks doesn't it.

I think it'll be good any of those three ways.

I enjoy all of those types of web comics.

I'd prefer it to be more like the old ones...

No, now that I think about it. I want to see what he does without assuming it will be one of those three.

Whatever he does, I'm positive that I'll enjoy it.

I'd enjoy whichever one Poe feels most comfortable doing. A, B, or C would all be horrible if Poe's heart wasn't really in his chosen path, but any of them would be great if it's what Poe really wants to do.

Thank you, mr. political-fucking-correctness.

If there is a commie character who gets killed eventually, I'll be happy.

One of the great things about EN was how the story changed from fanservice and perverse jokes to fanservice and an engrossing plot. I cared about the characters and was excited when I knew that the next day there would be a new strip up. Whatever he tries Poe will do well but I really don't think anything from him could be solid plot. I will miss the perversion of EN though ;_; I'm not sure what to think about the indications that Errant Story will be in a less. . .'adult' style.

C would be best IMO, some story (like the Jordan/Bush stuff) with humourous attitude, and some serious moments too. I just loved that stuff, more than the early "gag-only" EN.

I like a nice happy mix of all of them. Fun site gags and pointless humor are good ways to break up a long serious stroy.

Well, the difference between the two options is sort of like the difference between the beginning of EN and the end of EN. The beginning I remember as being mostly gag strips, which were really funny and well-drawn. By the end, though, I think EN had become my favorite web-comic - I read a ton, but I looked forward to new EN strips the most. I think having the strip alternately be darkly humorous and serious would be great, but I'd like more an emphasis on the humor. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway, but I think Errant Story might actually be serious - unless it's merely a continution of Exploitation Now with a name change that fits its new material more...

Well, I think it will be good because Poe makes characters that you can care about. If it was all silly gags I wouldn't care about the characters, so I wouldn't care about the story. If Poe can make characters that people can like and have interest in, then Errant Story will be fun to read. I am confident he can accomplish that after reading EN.

BTW, does anyone have any idea of when Poe will put up the first strip? I am getting really anxious to find out what the story will be about.
