No, the convention is (as I recall) if you make it to Expatriate without getting initiated or DNI'd, then you're accepted. Tourists are fair game, because 25 posts are too easy to make. Believe me, I know.

It's also based on the quality of your posts. Lifyre, to use an example you gave, has never been anything but intelligent, and he respects other people's posts.

Unlike you.

You deserved that initiation in my opinion. So don't complain about it.

Besides, Fold doesn't like you. If a nonexistent character can get pissed off at you, that certainly means you're annoying.

Bye, the door is to your left.

I mean, for fucks sake, the whole purpouse of initiation is to weed out those who don't wnat to be here, and to make them part of the community. It's not like we're actually physically intiating you (something I'm dead set against), and if you can't accept that, then good for you.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Initiations make it impossible to have a
mature discussion.

If someone who's never been on the forum
decides to raise a mature, debatable topic
here, no one actually listens to them, they
just get labeled a n00b and initiated, and
they get pissed off and leave, thinking you're
all immature.

btw I'm not saying it's bad to be immature
(god knows I can't help being so). It just
helps having the ability to not be immature,
at least sometimes.

I don't think the initiations are bad - they hurt your pride at most. =) Most inits I've seen here weren't even funny though - which makes them kinda pointless IMO.

What's worse with elitist attitudes is that in general discussions, n00bs tend to be ignored by the 'clique' or not taken seriously. That pisses me off.

Here I'm going to have to disagree with you. If, and IF, a n00b raises a decent thread, ofering a good point of debate, they are taken seriously. However, what is often the case, is that a new person pops up, and makes a comment, or says soemthing that has been said a thousand times before. The arch-typical event being the "where are Bimbo and Ralph" or "I want hot lesbian sex" threads that became so common during the exploitation now days.

Hell, take your views over to the debate thread, start up an arguement about the relative merits of different govermental systems. Look at Goldstandard for instance. He's only been here since the 21st of October, and only has 51 posts. Howeever, his views are treated with as much validity as any body elses in any arguements he makes. In other words, most people listen and debate, and KC insults him.

If a noobie posts a thread of great meaning and depth, with some true insight, or some great art, they are even likley to get a DNI.

And yes, initiations here have gotton less and less funny, and far more brutal then they used to be, but some of us are trying to remedy that, and while mine may not have been hilarious, it was a damn sight lighter than a lot of the things I've seen on this board. For some great hilarity, dig up Rand's Initiator/Power rangers parody thread that was insanely funny.

Initiation serves to get rid of those who don't really want to be here. Those that take it for what it is,a stupid ritual of acceptance, are freely admitted into this group, complete with free porn for all. Those who take it badly usually don't have the sick sense of humour required for the wierdness that is this board, and so leave, and we win either way.

It is not a thing to be taken seriously, and even though you are new, you thought will probably be taken seriously. You, Grievre, however, have a slight handicap in that you pissed off a large number of people with your huge amounts of whore-posts yesterday. You have already started to make amends by deleting a large amount of the offending posts, and as such I offered you a fairly easy initiation, where the Human Rights thingy said I should inflict great and horrible pain on you for the post-whoring.

Don't take these initiations as an attack against your person, most people go through them.

Right. I've seen the initiations. Uh-huh, sure, right . . . we're all immature bastards . . .

WHY DON'T YOU GO TO THE SINFEST BOARDS if you're that angry at us for being immature?

You'll get along a lot better there, as far as I'm concerned.

I only initiate n00bs who piss me off. Same with everyone else on these boards. Thinker, Bishou, me, TSC, everyone . . . we treat you innocent until you prove yourself guilty. Unfortunately, you often do.

Even I messed up, but I took a look around at what we had here on these boards, and I realized that yeah, the initiations may be bloody and angry, but compared to the astonishing amount of good quality pr0n--er, debates and stuff that goes on here, the intiations don't even stack up.

Initiations are a part of Kyhm's Forums, but they aren't the be-all and end-all of them.

You don't have to accept the initiation policy, but recognize that we may use it to show what we think, but it's not what we are. Separate the sin from the sinner, to borrow Christian terminology for an unChristian practice ^^

So, Greivre, I say it again: You don't liek us on account of our initiations, go somewhere where they don't have initiations, like the SinFest boards, and see what you think of them compared to us.

After that, you're entitled to your opinion. Just not our respect.

I beg to differ, I see people get initiated
for no reason all the time.

I agree. If a "n00b" gets into an argument
with someone, they will invariably lose,
because they're obviously stupid compared
to someone who's been here a few months
more than them and has nothing better to do
than post 20 times a day.

I'd like to see your proof. "all the time"? Show me that a n00b gets initiated on these boards every five seconds--no, if you can prove it's done every day, even-- and I'll believe you. However, the frequency of initiations isn't that often, so you can't prove anything. Besides, of all the n00bs who joined recently, I see only you who's been initiated in any truly violent manner. And there is invariably a reason why they are initiated. You just seem too dense to figure it out, since you keep repeating that very same reason.

If you make a good, intelligent point, or a good, relevant topic, you won't get initiated and you will be taken seriously. The prejudice here isn't against n00bs but against stupid n00bs.

let's see, morgoth got initiated for asking
where the ES page was. He shouldn't have been
burned on a fscking crucible for asking a
simple question.

Stop putting in line breaks yourself.

Second, the initiation was CALLED OUT AS INAPPROPRIATE AND EVERYONE AGREED.

Do you have any other complaints you worthless fuck, or can I get back to intelligent conversation?

I'd hardly call this forum an elitist clique - Hell, I've only been told to shut the hell up ONCE! And only jokingly too, I might add. And I'm pretty new. Just roll with the punches and don't be a troll or insult the veterans or any other stupid crap -they're pretty forgiving.

Just to be an arrogant, elitist bastard, a crucible is a pot or jar used for holding molten things (usually metal). You'd have a hard time burning someone on one; in one, maybe, if it was large enough, but not on.

I din't think my initiation was that nasty, it's not like it involved having you insides eaten out by hamsters, or some of the other nasty shit I've seen around here.

And it is easy for a n00b to slip under the radar. Don't post-whore, and don't be an idiot, and you'll be left alone usually. Though, KC never got initiated, and he did both, so go figure.
