I fell like I am trying to read one of those sad daily strips in the paper, like spider-man, or Mary Worth, that try to have a cogent story fill out in only three tiny pannels each day.

This is much too slow, first the long intro and now I get the feeling that we may have to wait weeks between stuff actually happening.

And if we do have to wait weeks for anything to happen, will it make it any less worth it?

Will people leave in fury, over a slow beginning?

I doubt it. I think it's great, and I'm glad to have a comic that's starting out slow and building a proper foundation.

That way, when Poe starts to build the house, we won't have so many plotholes and shit falling down on us...

Random hilarity can be good, but sometimes people like to use their brains... To think things out and revel in a story... To read a comic whether it takes days or weeks to start up.

Three times a week is pretty damned fast, imo. For this quality of artwork, I reckon it's probably the fastest. Most full-page online manga style stuffs only put out about once or twice per week.

So far we've had a title page, three pages of plot, an establishing shot of the town (and to some extent the time), and now a short introductory portrait of the mysterious cat-whittling man. When that progression is read in the archives I doubt it'll seem slow at all.

You read Megatokyo I assume?

The pacing is a bit slow right now, but seriously its only been about three weeks, in the original EN Jordan, Bush, Hooper, Babylon and the Baka Faery hadn't even existed in Poes imagination (Okay Jordan and Babs did but you get the idea).
Save the complaining until he gives us a Dead Poe day, unless it is like the <a href = "http://forums.kyhm.com/viewtopic.php?topic=490&forum=1&39">last one(and only one)</a> then we will have to kill all complainers, as well as kittens.

Actor.

Poe could whine incessantly about how he's too busy even tho he's been laid off from work, has twice the time to work on the site, and still can't manage to get on a regular update schedule because he's too busy on IRC, watching the LOTR Special Edition Box Set or jacking off to some freshly imported manga (I would believe Poe is talented enough to draw his comic (including inking) with one hand while pleasuring himself with the other because he's a lovable kind of pervert that way); tho I've been told I shouldn't complain because I get the comics for free but when you and thousands of others have supported a comic by pre-ordering the author's book, purchased t-shirts and the cool OktoberFest beer stein you'd think we have a little bit of an entitlement to bitch when the comic updates once in a week and its only an unfunny "dead author day".

Yeah so what I'm saying is at least Fred Gallagher doesn't do Errant Story. Out of the three episodes we've seen, 3 would be dead piro days and the other would have been a proposed cover for the new book conveniently packaged with annoying whining in the rants.

I will not leave.

Theres really nowwhere else to go. If it takes weeks to get it rolling, where will I be weeks from now? Still here, needing something to read.

I imagine that this probably holds true for a good number of readers.

It's the anticipation finally gettin' to ya. I know I'm ready for more to happen but actually going over things it's not going too slow. Plus this isn't a gag a strip comic now, THAT's where you expect so much too happen in a little space that MIGHT span two whole comics to a week.

Y'know, Fred REALLY isn't THAT bad . . .

Besides, I enjoy the DPDs, gives ya a chance to see what's bonking around in his head. Sometimes it's better than the comic itself is, but them's the breaks.

My only complaint about MT is the ridiculously sugary fans. They drive me nuts.

Other than that, I think MT's still a decent comic. Probably not as good as ES, but still better than Sinfest is right now.

Quit complaining, you guys, the update schedule for MT is NOT as bad as you make it out to be. DPDs only show up every seven comics, not every single comic, and it's nice that Fred's willing to give us a glimpse of how he's gonna make the book look.

Sure, the slow plotting's been driving me nuts, but he's getting better at that, or have you been too busy looking for the negative crap that you've missed out on the humor that he's been adding into it?

In short, stop jumping up his ass every time he wants to show you something new or gets overloaded. I'm pretty damn sure POE wasn't a full-time goddamn architect as well as a comic book artist, and trust me, he was justified in missing comics every couple weeks because he got overloaded. So fuck off, you never had to do what Piro did and until you try don't knock him for giving his best effort. Ranting ended.

Now, let's get back to what this forum is about, namely discussion of ES, okay?

Funa, are you really Largo trying to take over the ES forums?

No! I won't let your diabolical plans of mecha world domination come to fruitation! Have at ye!

You seem to know an awful lot about someone you profess to hate. get out of his gawd demn bushes. Oh, and put a full stop in there somewhere, my brain was asphyxiating. Hee..XD

But no, I wasn't talking about MT anyway. :) MT still updates on a regular shedule compared to a lot of online comics/manga. There are many that update in batches every few months, or that get held up for months for one reason or another(ghost:2138...*sniff*). Any webtoonist that holds a shedule to about 75% has my respect, 'cos fitting in (okay, rough vague figures here) 2-3 hours per page with your social life, job etc is, contrary to many readers' opinions, quite a sacrifice, and harder than it looks on paper ("hey, wanna go out tonight?" "Ye-..no...comic due tomorrow.."...etc...and that's not 2-3 hours of faffing about, that's SOLID, and without writing the script.) To me, the quality of art and the pace it's put out at in ES is phenomenal, Poe's like some kinda manga-pumpin' humour machine. Rock on. :D

Hey.... I LIKE easy paced comics. But then, I AM a Robert Jordan fan. Take your time Poe, take your time. We'll have plenty of time to wish Errant Story lasted longer when it's finished.

Just finished the shadow rising, my mind still reels with all the plot thrown at me. The Wheel of Time series is what lord of the rings should have been: Explained.

Poe taking his time is not somthing to be disgruntled at...

that and no real action is going on, so we're not missing anything.

No, that wasn't me complaining. If there was an intracit fight going on at this pacing, I would. But its a setup to the story, so I'm just fine thankee.

I take it you hated Dragonball Z with a passion not known to modern medical science. THAT was a show that you had to be high to fully appreciate.

I dunno, as far as Megatokyo goes, I have to give Piro credit...his frantically apologetic rants are almost compensation for the frequent lack of comicness. At the very least they're as amusing, and I think they're pretty heartfelt too. Poor bastard just set out trying to make a living producing an online comic, after all--that's going to be a damned hard field to break into, especially since he doesn't want to use PayPal or anything like that.

Now Avalon, Avalon has update problems. Remember this summer, anyone? I left for work (as in, backwater Wisconsin, as in no computers) in June--came back in September, and it was the same damn comic.
