Actually for all I know this comics been around for awhile, or at least cooking for a while. The fact that all the guys in this forum have high post counts leads me to think this Forum has been around for awhile and so the comic has as well. Anyway enough of my inane ranting.

No doubt people have already vaunted their praise for Poe, either commenting on his past work or the fact that they are glad he has started work again, but i would still like to add my humble comments to the pile.

I must say exploitation now was one of the first web comics i read. The order went something like gamespy --> Megatokyo --> Exploitation Now and so on and so forth. I found Poes drawing style not the most pleasing to the eye on the net but I did find his strip highly addictive. After going through the archives i began to pay close attention to the strip. After many months I grew to enjoy his style more and more, as well as his humour. I was sad when EN began to slow down and prepare for the finale, although i was also kind of relieved.

I had of course read EN from the start and I seemed to notice a trend of Poes comics, evolving from the humour filled to more serious and the latter dark strips. I began to feel less and less enamoured with them as the humor was sucked out and was filled with a grim story line and horrible continuity. However I noticed that this was actually evolution. Poe was moving farther and farther from the original premise of EN and was developing to a more serious thread in his story.

I also realised I wasn't rnjoying the later EN strips because the EN universe wasn't really conductive to that kind of script. As EN ended I was sad, it was almost like an end of an era (being horribly melodramatic here, its not like it was a life changing experience but i think that era might be the best word to use). Now he starts a new era and opens to us a new world. a world which will be conductive to a more serious kind of story. The opening panels which i have read hold great promise in story line and style. Plus I am also glad this strip now seems to be set in a high fantasy style, just because I am a grat fan of high fantasy (believe me i have read alot of books of high fantasy). I look forward to his future strips with great relish and although the humour laden Bimbo and Ralph are gone no doubt there will be plenty of opportunities for mirth.

I am also glad because this story seems to have a rock solid base from which to build on compared to the rather shaky foundation Bush and Jordans escapade grew from. I salute Poe and a strip with great potential which I hope will be thoroughly engrossing and entertaining.

A couple pointers:

Usually people don't start new threads till their n00b status is gone. It's also a good idea to lurk and find this kind of info out before posting a lot. Oh, and you might be initiated, don't take it badly, take it lightly, it's our way of saying welcome.

Nice post by the way.

You know, the "omg n00bs shouldn't post teh thraeds!!!" rule seems dumber and dumber every time somebody like Guybrush posts something incredibly thoughtful and insightful. Maybe we should just give up and make the rule "don't post crappy threads".

Welcome aboard, by the way. I'd DNI you, but then I'd be less cool and detached.

I have no fear of initiation or flaming because this isn't the first forum I've been on. I know its light hearted generaly, maybe sometimes a n00b takes it wrong and then things get nasty, but i'm not like that. Sticks and stones...

And there wasn't info to find persay, I was just giving my two cents. Anyway thanks for the compliments, I do appreciate it. Also I think I've seen some of your colouring stuff Rincewind, I have to say you definately have an eye for choosing the right ones, but you've probably also been told that before as well.

<---- The man to come looking for when you want something repeated. If only i could find a Guybrush avatar with a parrot on his shoulder.

Was just givin pointers, not goin off on him fer posting a new thread. Some people get pissed off about it. I thought I made it clear when I commented on a post well done.

Anyhoo, this here's your official DNI, the first I've given out. Might wanna put that in yer sig. Welcome to the board.

Oh yeah, Rincewind, a 'no crappy threads' is already a sort of unwritten rule. It's just that most newbies to the board can't distinguish 'crappy' from 'well done'. We gotta figure out a better way of wording it I guess.

Oh yeah, on the topic at hand. Yeah, the foundation seems extremely more solid because I'm pretty sure Poe said he'd worked out the storyline a lot more in advance. Don't quote me though as I'd have to scour the archives for that and I'm far to lazy right now.

To specify, that DNI was meant for Guybrush.

I first heard about Exploitation Now when someone posted a strip of it on another forum. I decided that since I'm here, I might as well read a bit of the comic. So I started from the first strip and started reading. Before I even noticed, I'd been reading them for an hour.

I finished reading the comic the next day, and was really sad to see that the comic had already ended. I also liked the latter, darker stories a lot more than the first quite funny joke strips. I'm easily touched, I know, but EN touched me nevertheless.

I used to visit the EN site once or twice a week, just to see if anything new's up. Then I stopped doing it, since it seemed pointless. And just about a week ago, I almost accidentally clicked on the EN link on my bookmarks. I was overjoyed - Poe had started another web comic. I instantly read all there was to read and have followed the comic regularly ever since. Errant Story has so far been more like the latter, darker style, which suits me fine. But then again, most of EN's prologues were as well. I'll just wait and see how it turns out.

And now, I've decided to take a look at the forum. Nice to meet you all.

iv'e never been a big hater of the 'noobs starting new threads' thing, but most of the ones iv'e bothered to read of late have been relatively intelligent, and mainly constrained to the forums that bring them in. ES fans in ES forum, Dysfunctional fans in Dys forum...

now if we got a reash of stupid noobs posting crap in the Roleplay forums...well, i'd mostly ignore it, truth be told. it's the trolls that get my goat...that is, when they destroy an otherwise good thread. a troll making their own topic is easily ignored.

At any rate, welcome to the boards, guybrush! don't mind the funny smell, it's just the delicious aroma of perverts pickling in their own juices.

Howdy Dansc, same thing happened to me, cept I think I read EN all in one sitting. I happen to have liked the later strips as well even though I see a lot of people complaining about the comic losing it's humor and what-not.

Errant Story seems to be completely set to my liking so far also. Can't wait for some action to unfold.

Well, in any rate, I think Poe's better in the darker strips than the funny ones. Or maybe not better, but... oh, nevermind. Maybe I just like a darker theme more

I think he works extremely and equally well either way, but some people just prefer one way over the other. I'd have to go with the pacing and attitude/style of Errant Story myself.

Personally I only disliked the later EN strips because I really didn't feel it had a sense of congruency. Like I said before I think its all about a good foundation. A story which winds its own way can occasionaly find its path into good story writing, but often ends up like a headless chicken. Errant story however has a good grounding, and I look forward to a more serious story, though I don't doubt there will be humor.

Remember Kaze-Chan? He was a n00b, he started Road Trip prt 1(god only knows what he was planning for part 2) and then buggered off.
Instead of ignoring it and letting it vanish to the bottom of the page we adapted it to our own, and if he was to ever return he would not know what to think.
So n00bs wanking around the forum looking for trouble are a bad thing I'll agree but sometimes good things ca n happen if you adapt to it.

DNI, or "Do Not Initiate" is a tag often given to n00bs who show intelligence, or otherwise earn them.

Oddly enough, back when I first used the term, I had no idea it would become the sought item it is today. *nodnod*

Different regs have different means of applying DNI's. *nods* Depends on who you impress, really.

-BiShouNenKaMi
There is also NFL, or "n00b for life", which is granted to complete assholes.

I don't give out DNI's as there are no intelligent first posts, just extremely lucky ones.

It's funny how first you hate being a n00b, then once you're not really a n00b anymore you take a strong stance either for or against whuppin' 'em around, and then, after a couple of years, you stop caring one way or the other.

And where would you put mine Poisoned mind? Not intelligent or lucky? And if it is lucky why? I do mean everything I say. I just want to know because I was wondering about your opinion.
