I think its pretty much already been established that there are humans and elves in this comic. However I was also speculating on whatever fantasy creatures might star. Could there be Orcs, dwarves, trolls mayve even Hobbits in this strange and wonderful world. What do you think? Already I think I saw Poe vicously deny the presence of lycanthropic creatures (werewolves at least) from the comic.

My personal opinion is that there are only the two main races in this comic. Sure there may be demons and generic monsters, but I only think that elves and humans (and there half breeds) will have societies which Sarine visits.

Another point I'd like to make is Sarine doesn't have to be the daughter of the two from the start. She could be another character, maybe searching for that character. By observation of this http://www.errantstory.com/about.html i have to say Sarines ears are too elvish I think she is an errant hunter or summut. Meji however I think could be the daughter in question. Also notice the gun in Jons hand, I think there will be unpowder weaponry.

Again I could be hidieousy wrong about all this, o don't think I hold these all as gospel. they are musings and i'd like to hear what you think.

BRAINWAVE!

http://www.errantstory.com/gallery.html

Look 5 rows down and at pictures 4 and 5. I think sarine could actually be the girl who is pregnant in the strips at the start. Again i am TERRIBLY sorry if this has been sid before. But i must say they look IDENTICAL. Tell me what you think, Or what a n00b i am.

Yeah, it's been the general concensus that Sarine is indeed the pregnant elf at the beginning. Also, as far as races go, I'd say there's a good chance at least trolls exist because they're talking about one attacking and raping some girls... then again it might be a superstition thing.

Sorry, I had looked at some other threads but i hadn't noticed anything about Sarine being the pregnant elf. Oh well experience is the sum of all your bad mistakes.

Yup, stupid mistake by me. Thank you Rincewind. For my next trick/mistake I will attempt to create a bonsai kitten!

We've seen that before, too. I suggest you spend a few weeks lurking... maybe even read the old threads! It might do you some good.

Well I think its inevitable that everything will eventually tur up on a forum if its interesting so i wasn't exactly expecting it to be new and exciting. especially since I heard of it ages ago.

But how about the amazing singing horses? http://svt.se/hogafflahage/hogafflaHage_site/Kor/hestekor.swf

Posting random OT links probably isn't the way to endear yourself to the regulars.

Then again.... you have a DNI and I don't. Maybe I shouldn't be talking....

I'm not doing it to endear myself. Sure i don't want people to dislike or even hate me. but neither am I sucking up. I posted the links because i found them slightly amusing (don't know what that says about me in terms of bonsai kitten or singing horses, maybe its some kind of twisted Rosarch test). Anyway I made some comments which weren't especially profound, but thats because

a) i haven't been here that long
b) from what i read they seemed to be relevant, maybe i just got a bad cross section of posts.

In any case I don't claim to be a vet to these boards, so i don't know what has or has not come up. But if a topic which interests me comes up maybe i'll post something profound which redeems me in the eyes of any of those people who might have lowered opinions of me.

In any case I still haven't got many answers on the question of races included. I guess you might be right on the trolls issue, but I'd like dwarves to be in here somewhere. Though it could just be a comic about racial tensions between elves and half elves.

Please, I didn't mean to offend you or act like I've been here for a long time. In fact, I think I joined the same day you did - my first post in on your first thread.

The 'try again' part was kind of a joke, and ment exactly that: do try again. I won't mind. I don't know about the others, though.

Very funny. It's been a while since I've seen that one but it's still amusing.

I thought it was pretty obvious that trolls do exist, otherwise why Sarine's grim sense of humor about them? Now, if they were few and far between, I could see that. ES seems to take place in a post- Third Age world, in the Tolkien sense, when humans have become the dominant race and the others just sort of fade into the background. (Or are forced there, as the intro might suggest)

It would be interesting seeing just how advanced any other sentient races are in this world. Are elves more developed than humans? Perhaps vice versa? Do trolls have a society, are they just animals, or are they something parents use to make their children eat their vegetables?

So far things are flowing and developing naturally. I have few doubts that these answers will come with time.

It seems to me that while the world might be post- Third Age overall, elves still wield significant power. After all, the guy in the village said that Derren had some half-elven blood in him, could imply some strong (often reinforced?) presence of elves in the world. Secondly, after Sarine (I think I got the name right) killed Derren she froze the whole tavern with a flash of ear. And with such natural longevity and the seeming lack of technological development over the two thousand years, there doesn't seem to be any reason for the elves to lose power. Perhaps they have just withdrawn to their own borders, wherever they may be. The example of Krynn, specifically around the time of Raistlin springs to mind.

Elves are sure an uppity bunch, always withdrawing into their tree top/forest communities. Me personally I like a good dwarf, some folk say their cranky to but at the very heart of it, their just little drunken frat boys with long beards. Odin bless em. So, um, yeah sure I think he'll include all the "classic" fantasy races.
