Well, she killed the poor bastard. Now, all I am wondering is, WHY did she say "Sorry I wasn't talking to you."?

Because she's a violent insane sociopath and I'll only love her more for it.

There still might be a good fight. I hoping that now the rest of the villagers react badly and she has to kick the rest of the bars ass to get out. Something similar to the scene in Kiss of the Dragon when Jet Li has to fight his way through a room of 20 or so cops...

Even if the guy wasn't disliked in the town. Would you try to stop her from doing whatever she want's?

I don't think she would have just slaughtered him on the spot like that if she didn't think she could hack and slash her way out of the village if necessary - not that it would be necessary. I doubt people are going to be willing to risk their lives to avenge the weird old stuttering guy.

That, and she can probably sneak out. Invisibility, ninja-esque stealth, running fast, flying, whatever. There are many possibilities.

He's apparently the town drunk, so honestly who's going to care that he's dead?

Can you imagine trying to live in town without a town drunk? Or town idiot?! We need these people to survive as a community!

Well maybe she is talking to someone else besides Darren. Something like "Sorry for all the blood thats spilled on your cloak". Good reason to say sorry, because blood doesn't wash off easily on clothing, especially when you rip their voice box from their neck with your hand..... not that I personally experienced it or something.. *Nervous chuckle*

Hmm ... perhaps she's apologizing to someone who's not there? That guy from the first 3 pages, perhaps, for the fact that she's going around executing Errants?

I think, at least, that she's apologizing to the young women. It seems she went through some investigation to find out who was at the bottom of it, and people likely died while she was still researching. I think she's apologizing to the victims for not being fast enough herself to save them.

Maybe she's apologizing to him, since he's half-elf, maybe she feels sorry for killing somone sort of her own kind

If I'm not mistaken, the words had little '<>' things around them, indicating that she was speaking in another language, presumably elvish. My vote goes for the 'somebody who isn't there,' most likely an elf or half-elf, given the choice of language. Then again, it could be that elvish is just her first language.

Yeah I thought she was spekaing elvish, but if she's not talking to him, maybe she was apologizing to someone related to him in some way, just a guess.

She's talking to herself, that's all. And I bet the guy isn't even dead. Probably change into some horrendous monster and attack her fiercly. Then she'll kill him again, and the townsfolk will blame her for it. He's probably the thing that's been brutally killing people. Or an errant. Or both.

She could have been talking to spirits, or something like that. Or maybe she hears voices in her head, like Joan of Arc, and they are against violence.

For something even more outlandish, in Greek mythology, the god Zeus had a child that was born out of his head, who came out fully clothed and ready for battle, Athena. Perhaps Sarine's child got lost on the way while she was giving birth to it, and it got stuck in her head and is like her conscience......

but then again I know nothing about elven anatomy and I may be getting a serious ass kicking for posting this.
