While its a given that Babylon Jones was not a ripoff of Blade of the Immortal, you can't denie that todyas death scene isn't. Not that I mind in any way. The artwork is fantastic; and if you're gonna steal, do it from the best.

Well. I wouldn't call it a rip off from Blade of The Immortal directly, as the scene of Sarine killing Darren is rather simplistic and straightforward. There's the typical 'freezeframe' of the moment of the kill, but so does every other samurai anime to date.

A typical Blade of The Immortal kill scene has all the fancy art and embroidery bordering around the scene that has the 'kill' in it. One of my favourites is when Rin's dad uses a lunging thrust attack, and he is represented as a fish jumping out of the water. But then the bad guy he's attacking has this special technique where he spins his blades around his fingers, and poor Rin's father dies getting sliced on both shoulders right down to his waist. THAT particular part is stylized by having the jumping fish being eviscerated into tiny slices; Rin's dad becoming like so much sashimi. It made me laugh over and over again.

...wow...that's a rathering profound way out looking at Saumra's death murals from "Blood of a Thousand"
...in the next volume, Shizuma, the immortal Itto Ryu guy, is shown against a spider...seen that one? what's you're take on it, more symbolism, or just simple stylistics?
