No, really... I used the ole Jedi mind trick to make the teacher pass me...

Me- "I'm not the student you're failing."

T- "Um... you aren't the student I'm failing."

Me- "You are giving me a passing grade."

T- "But, Chris, you're getting a passing grade alre-"

Me- "You will let me graduate on time..."

T- "Yeah, uh huh, sure thing. Look, school got out about 2 hours ago. Can I go home?"

See? That's exactkly how it happened. I made him pass me with my mind! I am amazing!!!

Why would anyone activly hate star wars? Honestly now, people who jump on that bandwagon are all jumping on the same thing... The hype. The original trilogy was good. If the new movies were released as movies of their own, with no pressure of being Star Wars, most people would agree that they were pretty good. Although we wont talk about jar jar..

Oh, there are very good movies lurking in there somewhere. All it would have taken was an editor with the guts to smack Lucas upside the head and inform him that there are other ways to amuse the kids in the audience than to pop out with random poop/fart jokes and hokey slapstick, so take it out because it's disrupting the entire scene.

I beg to differ. Episode 2 was almost as bad as Episode 1, with the exception of the last half hour, and Binks was barely involved at all. I think the basic problem is that George Lucas is relying far too heavily on special effects gimmicks (making the last two movies look more like cartoons than live-action films) and not putting any effort into making his world or his plot believable; the lousy-ass script doesn't help much, either. Bottom line, he's just not that good of a director. A good producer, yeah, and with a talent for storyboard-type stuff, but when it comes down to actually deciding what to put into the movie, he's not that great.

Natalie Portman in skimpy clothes does go a long way, though. I'll concede that.

Like I said - for want of an editor with the balls to tell Lucas "this sucks, change it".

True. Also, in the first three movies the actors were amazing. Despite Lucas's sub-par dialogue, they could still pull off an amazing performance. Not to say that his writing was as bad then as it is now, but it was still pretty hokey. Besides, the original trilogy's plot was simple, concise, and epic. Whereas the latest plots~~. Lucas did have a hard job in measuring up to the trilogy, but that doesn't exonerate him as 1) he could have just left the franchise well enough alone, and 2) Jar-Jar-Binks?? the actors portraying Anakin?? dialogue?? Man...
Just my thoughts on the subject, posted through a sleep-deprived haze.

I would say Episode One "jumped the shark" when Jar-Jar was introduced. No one really likes the "comedy" relief. It's the same deal with the Wonder Twins, Dyno-mutt, Jan and Jace, Blip, Gleek, Krypto, ect.

Hey, hey, hey! NOBODY KNOCKS THE WONDER TWINS ON THIS BOARD, n00b.

(Sooo... much unintentional incestous gags) It was so cool. They were trying to be funny, weren't - and because they weren't funny, it somehow became funny!

what the hell were the wonder twins?

the original star wars were pretty cool when i was a kid, but now luke just sounds like a goddamn whiner, and all the parodies have, by association, made the story tired and old.

the only cool part in the two new movies was Yoda kicking ass. it was cdool AND campy at the same time.

it's time for some new legends, in my opinion.

as for passing college, don't bother. take what magic you managed to pic up and make a poor job of summoning up something that probably would have been a lot happier not exisiting in any plane of reality, let alone one with you in it.

with this terribly depressed entity, conquor a small village, and demand sacrifices of nubile young women for an evening or two a week. and whne that annoying hero turns up to vanquish you and your manic-depressive demon? offer him a few of the nubile wenches from you harem and a steadily paying job as a bodyguard.

free sex and job security is much more preferable to possible violent and terminal sodomy by a demon that should be on anti-depressants.

I'm not going to go comparing SW to another Sci-fi program of a similar name, no no way. That's opening another can of worms.

However, I can say that for the first Trilogy, they were actually interesting to watch. Correct me if I'm wrong but Lucas didn't direct all of Original three. Didn't Spielburg direct at least one of them?

As for the Second Trilogy, Nothing's really stood out for me. The only thing I've cared about since they even announced him doing these in the first place was the knowledge that Ep. 3 would show Padme dying, Anakin become Vader and the beginnings of Luke and Leia.

That's honestly all I really care to see and find out. Now if Lucas screws up Ep. 3, then expect the legions of SW fans to raid his house and carbon-freeze his ass...then shoot it with bullets until he splinters into millions of frozen bits.

The only ones I'm interested in right now for sure are the LotR Trilogy and the upcoming sequel to The Matrix. BTW: How many of you are gonna go see the new Matrix and The Two Towers?

Left eye twitching....
Speilberg was going to direct the last one(Return of the Jedi) but Lucas cut him off and said OMFG U L4MERz, DUNT C4MP MI M0VI3 BIATCH.
To which Speilburg replied. Ok MF, I ddi yur mumma las night.

I think Lucas didn't want anyone else to be remembered as having a creative part in it, he wanted them to be his 'babies'.
At least thats what I heard, the real bastard is that Lucas only really wrote the first one, the second one(Empire) was written by someone else and the third one was also written by them(I think it was some chick maybe) by they died and Lucas claimed to have done a total re-write of it and thus got most of the writing credit.
This is of course merely what I've heard on Slashdot, and they are prepared to believe almost anything.

Actor.

I am definately seeing the Two Towers. I don't know about the Matrix. I feel that is should have been left as a stand alone movie.

However, I'm sure there is a contract somewhere stating that they must make 3 Matrix movies. Hollywood is so fond of reusing franchises that should have been left alone.

Example: T3. In T2 didn't they remove all possibility of Skynet being built? I suppose the machines can rise without Skynet, but this just stinks too much of Hollywood greed.

I have to agree with Meteo.
The Matrix, although based on the New Testament, should have been left to one movie.

Maybe they'll try playing the "Book of Revelations" card in the last and third movie? >:)

Hurray for Revelations!

After seeing Apocamon I don't think there could be any better version of The Book of Revelations.
