when i read through it i thought she was gonna do some beast transformation or something odd like that, but on second thought i think i will just wait and see where the story goes since its just begining.

I doubt that this is a future earth, simply because there are elves. If there weren't any elves then I'd imagine it to be a future earth. (Then again, maybe it's our past O.o)

These last couple of strips seem to have that comforting EN feel to them, but for some reason there's something vaguely disconcerting about Meji.

You mean like the forboding prolouge/intro scene where her mother is slaughtering a half-elf murderer?

Or maybe that despite the fact that she's contemplating attaining a demi-god like level of power to destroy a powerful school of mages, her principal concern is getting a good job and some of her grandpa's stuff when he dies?

There's also something in the way she is drawn that is vaguely 'off'. Maybe it's just unfamiliarity with the character (I'm sure as the strip goes on I'll wonder what I was talking about in this post) but right now she strikes me as the character with the least resemblance to any pre-existing EN face.

This doesn't come out in the gallery, or when she's posing, but just some of the panels where she's making funny faces at something she or her cat has said.

I don't know, has anyone else noticed this or am I just alone in this feeling?

She reminds me a bit of Jordan. she is definitly plotting like a Jordan-esque character, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

and she looks kinda human to me.

Look at the ears again, pointed with rounded off tips. She is a half-elf.
