Might want to look above you.

*Eronarn points into the air*

Whoops, too late!

*walks off snickering after a large cow crushes the n00b into the ground. A pool of blood begins to form.*

You know, I've never really got into posting in forums, but I feel I have found a new home. So much more happens here than in the box of Professor Ashfield. I think I shall like it here. Also, I'm always plenty in stock on the freshest of krylex. In fact, I almost have a monopoly. I'm still in litigation over 1/18th of my body belonging to a coorporation. Oh, and I'll make sure to mop up some of the blood and turn the lights out before I leave.

Cthulhu ain't a god, Elder or otherwise. He is the High Priest of the Outer Gods, and he lives forever, but he's flesh and blood (unlike true Outer Gods, who are intangible unless they choose to manifest), and he can be hurt, possibly even killed... tho' it might be considerably more difficult inducing him to stay dead for long.

Are you sure about this? Because the general mythos I've gotten from the sci-fi sub-culture is that Cthulu IS an elder god, and if he ever wakes up, he'll devour most of the known universe. Oh, and seeing him causes insanity. AND he looks like an octopus, but not.

Sorry to post AGAIN, but I also wanted to add that Babs is immortal due to a parasyte in her blood designed by Buddhist monks. Their vulgar name is "blood worms" but their official name is "Che-" mphhh!

Is "'Che-' mphhh!" Klingon, or am I just so far gone to the unholy realm of geekdom that I associate any strange sound with Klingonese? Or perhaps, being on this forum, many of us are geeks as well? Which would, in retrospect, make this post no less strange.

Sorry about misquoting the taunting. Been quite some time since the lsat time I saw the movie.

Oh, and "Bovine Intervention" from Sacrifice is definitely among the more entertaining and efficient spells I've seen.

I would doubt they are the same world. Exploitation Now never mentioned dwarves, elves, familiars, etc. Even though it did have the occassional magic, dimensional portals, and sex demons.

The sci-fi subculture has its head up its collective ass about classic horror-fantasy. Cthulhu just is a Great Old One*. True, looking at him causes insanity, but even minor Mythos wildlife can generally cause ordinary humans to go off the deep end by looking at them funny - it's not an exceptional power. The danger of Cthulhu is not that he'll destroy the world - it's that he knows all the rituals to summon all the Outer Gods (he's their High Priest, after all), and he's not afraid to use them.

* A Great Old One is about the equivalent of a demigod in Earthly mythology - i.e. they're big and they're badass, but they can be killed, and they typically don't have any really nasty reality-warping tricks up their sleeves.

(Oh, and it's "Outer God", not "Elder God" - the Elder Gods are dieties of human aspect who, while not "good guys", are not on friendly terms with the Outers, and are generally indifferent to humanity rather than actively out to destroy/corrupt/eat the human race. =P )

Not to be confused with the Just Plain Old Ones ("Just Plain" mine), either. Those were an alien race that spent a lot of time screwing around in Antarctica some millions of years prior to human civilization; while they themselves were not always especially nice guys and they created some even less nice things, they were (and are) basically physical and comprehensible. They might kill and dissect you, but they won't rip your soul screaming from your body.

Has anyone got a website the summerizes all the mythos stuff? i've been intrested lately in H.P and all the other spin offs by other writers

For example i'm intrested in who Nyralthotep is... i only know about him from Playing the Rpg Persona 2 (square takes way too much credit. this is a good rpg)

He was the Final Boss of the game, and while he appeared Human at first his True form was this Giant blob of Eyes and screaming Mouths (Course then i whipped his Ass by summoning LUCIFER. any game that can let you summon the devil is cool.)

Sounds like something I heard while glancing at some old DnD Planescape material once... not that I understand the stuff. Curse your complexity, pen-and-paper rpgs! I will make a character someday!

Heh, EC - good luck finding two sites that agree on anything about the Mythos. Y'see, the Mythos was created by over a dozen different authors, though the initial concept was Lovecraft's, and most of the material is credited to the so-called "Triumvirate of Weird Fiction", consisting of H P Lovecraft, R E Howard, C A Smith. The result is that there's endless debate among the purists over what material really "counts" in terms of Mythos canon. I myself tend to discount August Derleth's "cosmic battle of Good and Evil" concept as being contrary to Lovecraft's atmosphere of horrific cosmic indifference, but that's just me, and I generally don't press the point.

Anyway, this is a fairly good FAQ on the subject:

http://members.tripod.com/~danharms/mythos.htm

It doesn't have much detail, but it should give you the basics.

- Sir Bob.

Well, you execrable pile of dim-witted ass-fucking crap, I knew that, I just must have scrolled too quick and missed the post that mentioned Babs. You shit-eating cunt-hole goat-fucking male *BITCH* :)

(Did I win? I hope so, cause I pretty much exhausted my repertoire of dirty curse words. All the others I know are religious references, and they just don't pack the punch they used to…)

Donæt forget smegghead. A most useful insult, just as smegg and perkele are useful swear words. Oh, and I don't speak Finnish, but I believe perkineita (no idea how it's spelled) is an insult directed at a female. A very insulting one.
