[Math Geek] Ummmm, line 4 is wrong. You can't factor an a out of (ab-b^2). There is no a in the second term. [/Math Geek]

You are the weakest link. GOODBYE!

You guys are hopeless. Look at line 1. a = b.

Thus a-b = 0. You can't divide by 0, which is done between line 4 and 5.

Here's a simpler one:

0 = 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + ...
0 = 1-1, so:
0 = (1-1) + (1-1) + (1-1) + ...
By associative rule:
0 = 1 + (-1 + 1) + (-1 + 1) + (-1 + 1) + ....
Which of course gives us:
0 = 1 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + ...
QED:
0 = 1

Some asshole thought this proved God's existence since something had been created from nothing.

As for a proof that 2+2=3 or 5 or any integer I'll simply prove that 2=1

a = b
a^2 = ab (multiply by a)
a^2-b^2 = ab-b^2 (subtract b^2 from both sides)
(a+b)(a-b) = a(a-b) (factor)
a+b = a (reduce)
a+a = a (substitute from first equation)
2a = a (simplify)
2 = 1 (divide by a)

Then again you can also prove that y=x^2 is not a function if you know some calculus. ^_^

</Math Nerd>

I always just kind of understood it as the theory that mass warps space. Or is that the same thing?

Hooray for sco08y! He is correct.
All of these "proofs" have the common error of sneaking in a division or multiplication by zero, thus making everything after them meaningless. In this case it was line number three.

a^2-b^2 = ab-b^2 (subtract b^2 from both sides)

A and B are the same thing, so all you have done is cancell out everything and proven that a half of zero is still equal to zero.

You know Ero, not only are you wrong in the most technical sense (as has already been pointed out) but also, your pedantry is misplaced.

Things can travel parallel to each other for a period of time and then change direction. Isnt that crazy? lines, including storylines, dont have to be infinite.

thats not right either, by mathematical law when doing the same operation you work from left to right so 1-1+1-1+1-1.... still equals zero

Just because they both mention the same city, doesn't mean we have any help withthe chronology.

they could still be 2000 yearsapart for all we know. Cities can last like that in fantasy.

But good move spotting the referance Rince

Random Noweejun comment: Saus is Norwegian for sauce (or gravy...).

Edit: Yes, it's late at night. How did you guess?

Cities can last like that in real life too. Look at Rome.

True, but most don't in the real world. In fantasy they can seem to last for any number of millenia quite happily.

Rome is big, Saus is not. Great cities like constantinople can last, sure, but villages appear and vanish.

We don't know if Saus is small, do we? It does appear to be large enough to be serviced by the warp gates and airships. I don't think every small town is.

Good point, maybe it was just small the first time around and it grew.

Do we have any information pointing toward it being small in the Sarine storyline?

Well, for all we know, if Meji and Sarine *are* separated in time, Saus might have become a major city during the intervening time. Maybe there was an influx of immigrants, or the population grew on its own (being protected from the diminishing effects of Errant-murders and all :)

Still, that last comic strengthens the case for them being in the same time-frame, if only because having Meji pick up Sarine's trail from across that distance of time just doesn't seem like Poe.

It was never mentioned anywhere that Saus was a village. Why are people assuming it's small in either Meji's or Sarine's cases?

I think maybe they've mistaen the village where Sarine kills Derren for Saus. Which it is not. In the village, she says that she heard Derren was there "from a merchant in Saus".

Aha, therin lies my mistake, for some reason I was thinking of Saus as the village in which she whacks the Errant.
