I might mention that just about everyone does two or three years after the compulsory 9, free like the compulsory years. (Although not completely, you usually have to pay for books and equipment.) If you want to go to university afterwards, you do three years of general education. If not, you usually do two years of school followed by a two year "apprenticeship". You may also do a third year of school afterwards to be able to go to university.

Well, all 12 years of mandatory school are free up until age 21 in most places to the best of my knowledge. Private education usually costs a great deal if you are going to do that rather than the free school. Also, unless you take college courses while in high school (the last 3-4 years) everything except basic materials are usually covered. All I had to get was pens, paper, pencils, etc. College however is a whole new world. I'm getting scholarships to pay for all my tuition and fees, and my federal grant is enough for books, but I have to get loans everynow and then to cover basic living expenses. I can only work 20 hours a week on my work study program, so I can only make $500 a month. But college is an experiance I would not turn down for the world.

Recently there has been a push for that secondary path also, it's a damn good idea , people who can do a job well are in demand and are in many ways more valuable to society than "thinkers". Just imagine the paradise with few or no lawyers...

Just as Immanio i'm from Norway, and i have to say he's quite wrong.

No, he's *not* on college level, that's more like highschool. University/college can only be attended after 12 (now 13) years of school. The last 3 years arn't quite mandatory but almost everyone goes to some kind of school those last years.

OK. Like I said, I don't know. I just looked up "videregående skole" (what I'm in) in a dictionary, and it said college.

Edit: Oh, and I got my grades. Although the grades I got now don't really count, it's the grades I get in June that actually matter. The grades range from 0 to 6, where 0 and 1 means failed, and 6 is best. Got 5 in Religion, Modern History and Gym. 6 in Maths, Physics and Law(?) (Don't know if that's what it would be called. You have a better suggestion for Rettslære, Rakshasa?)

Well, college in and of itself is a loose word. In french, College means High School, while Unversity is what they use to describe after '12th grade'.
On the topic of finals, took mine before break.
Computer Engr I: B-
Analogue Sig Proc: C
Linear Algebra: lets not talk about that, retaking
Icelandic Sagas: B

Now I get the joy of throwing myself into two programming classes: one in C that I should took freshman year, and another in Assembly that I am taking a pinch early. And there always is a nice Logic Design course.
Humorously enough, I was taught Bianary thrice this week, and I could already do it in my sleep.
