Though I must say that on some level the idea of initiations being 'silly' and dumb more or less is rather prejudice, bsing the use of the term on the root; to 'pre-judge'.

A person choosing to act out an initiation in a post against another person is much like a person watching TV or reading a book, or RPing. Entertainment. Does it serve some ultimate purpose in the end? Not really, no, just entertainment.

Is that silly? Perhaps to some. A waste of time? Sure, one could say that... But then, if someone wants to 'waste their time' writing out something like that for entertainment purposes for themselves and others, then to hinder and ridicule is indeed being 'prejudice'.

Besides... We read Errant Story to be entertained, why can't we act out a little with words?

This is by no means a full explaination of my point, nor any kind of attack against anyone. I'm merely submitting my opinion.

Hadn't really looked at it this way before although I can definately see where you're coming from. I guess initiations may seem fun to some people and seeing my own initiation I must admit did give me a bit of pleasure but most of the time when I see them I think to myself "why is the initiator raking all this time to do this when no actual physical nor mental harm may come from it?".
Well you answered it. Pleasure. Personally I don't find initiations too fun all things considered. Maybe I take too much pleasure in actually hurting things or maybe you take too much pleasure in watching people being castrated through the usage of words. Either way I see your point and I don't think I will continue to cringe each time I see an initiation and think about the initiater in the sense "why are you doing this" but look at it more like people who like sodomizing silly putty. "Whatever floats your boat". Either way, well put bishou. My eyes are open to the world =D

/Actor puts down the silly putty.

Don't speak of the precious like that.

Well your initiation was performed by me essentially because I was feeling sleepy and had a really fucked up idea floating around in my head from work earlier that night.
Also it was meant in fun, but just for the hell of it in an attempt to atone..

/Actor puts on a Mighty Morphen Power Rangers T-Shirt.
A: Time to visit the Star Trek convention.
/Actor picks up a sign that reads: Klingons Suck it hard on one side and Gene Roddenberry is the Goatse.cx man! on the other.

I think I'll leave the rest up to your imaginations.

Actor.

*urk* Actor, I'd be scarred for life if I hadn't enough sense to look at your avi after reading that.

Course...scarring an already scarred pyschie might 'improve' the situation.

I think that post proves suicide pills come in handy, and should be stored near the computer at all times.

*Unzipps pocket on his left leg, and removes a small bottle containing a pill.*

I'll take this now, and damn you for the cause of my death.

*Shadowwalker swallowed the pill, and he fell from his chair not breathing.*
