In the distance, a pair of figures is seen arriving on horse- (and donkey-) back. The taller one (on an old broken down horse) stirs at the sight of the ruined building.

"Sancho! My lance! A giant!"

Sancho: "Not again...." *sigh*

 First thing that occurred to me when I saw the new strip.

My god, man, are you blind? The emotion, the pure pathos, the sublime insight into the human condition, this is truly a work of art! Never before have I seen divine Truth distilled into such a clearly-spoken, readily-understandable message! By the gods, if the rest of this chapter contains such glorys that tear at the soul as this, I fear I may not be able to partake anywhere close to as often as they are produced, for merely viewing this one page has left me stunned. Stunned, I say!

First thought was "BREAK OUT THE WOODEN SHOES!!!"

But then second thought was because I've been playing too much old-skool X-com, and the farmland looked like a place where a Sectoid scout ship would land. So then I was thinking "Better drop some incendiary ammo in the field and send in the rocket HWP to clear out some of the cover".

... it would so kick ass if that's what happens in the next strip

My first though was "Wow the plot in Megatokyo is moving faster than this."

I kind of agree with K, but it's still nice to look at. I guess I'm just less patient than some. ^_^

Where do did ninjas live?

In the forest.

Where can we find windmills and wheat farms?

In the countryside.

What do we get when we mix windmills with ninjas?

Ergo, redneck ninjas. "Heeeeyyyyy, paw! Who we gonna bleed today?" "Geee, I ain't got a clue, Mae-Ann Jr. 2! I was a-thinking we shuck a few roadsiders of 'em valuablembles!"

God, why is everyone dissing this strip? It's setting the scene, that's all. Nothing wrong with that.

BTW, where's Kami? He usually posts these topics.

Actually my first thought was, "God damned windmills did it to me again."

I realize the need for setting and development, but when you're fiending for a Errant fix and all you get in the span of four days is a chapter introduction and some windmills, it's easy to get a little antsy

Err, wrong. MT is proceeding at a snail's pace, considering that he used today as a "Dead Piro Day." He'll probably post one real comic this week.

My bad... I was dealing with a stalker.

But that's no matter for here.

Today's comic... I say anyone that doesn't like it should fuck off, really. ^_^

Because ya know what? So what if it's not action laden. If every comic had dialogue and action and ninja bitches and magic, and elven chicks... Then when time finally came for deadtree Errant Story, people would read through it and say "Why does it feel so hollow? So condensed? Where's the set up?"

So I say, that not only is this strip great, but damn, Poe, you're really nailing this whole dramatic storytelling thing down hard! I love it!

Sara's coming... *BiShou points to his avatar* SARA COMETH!!!

Amen, BiShou; hear, hear!

And I suspect Sara is coming... does anyone else remember that scene from her description in the FPL? I could have sworn it happened in an old abandoned windmill/barn/silo thing. Ooooo....

And frankly, if it is next, then I won't care that I went and read a spoiler of it, 'cause I so want to see Poe render it in full illustrated comic form. If it's half as good as the text description was, it'll be well worth the few (I predict 1.5 more) panels of mood-setting build-up.

Go Poe!

Personally, I think this setting is more Jon-themed (Gunslinger) than Sara-themed. (Real Ultimate Power!!!)

Maybe the chapter will be split in half, showing each of their viewpoints in turn. Kinda like a flashback...

...ah, hmm. Speculating again. That would be cool, though.

Let me also say this.

I have not, nor will I, read the fpl info. Not for a long time, actually. I prefer not to know, even if I am under the belief that they will take different paths. There may still be some similar scenes.

So I won't read them... Because I do not want to know...

-BiShouNenKaMi
And my apologies, but if I see fpl in a post, I'm more likely to skip it than read it.

Don't worry, BiShou, I wouldn't retype spoiler info (well, unless you consider the sibling-hood of Sara and Jon to be spoiler info) here on the boards because I know there are people like yourself who prefer to avoid such things. (And good for you, I say.) At most I would link to whatever page I had been reading.

In my post above I just typed some speculation that would only make sense to someone who had already read Sara's description in the FPL, so never fear.

I enjoy things like today that are just setting. It just fills it in so much when you look at the overall scheme of things. I sadly caught on to EN after it had already finished, but it gave me the chance to go through and read the entire thing. When people do that with ES in the future, I feel that a page like todays shall just add much more to it. I've said it before, I'll say it again: Poe, you rock. Your avi kicks ass as well. If I ever meet you, I'd like to buy you a beer. Or some Sammy Hagar Cabo Wabo.

This tendency for dramatic set-up is precisely why I'm surprised Poe didn't try to work out some deal with Tokyo-Pop or I.C. Entertainment, since they were both looking for artists to draw manga for them. There have been a couple times in EN, and especially with ES, when it seemed like Poe would work better in book-format rather than comic-format. I mean, hell, who IS doing the comics for Animerimanga? C'mon, Poe! Bite the bullet and go professional!

But then we'd have to pay money for pulped dead tree format Poe art!

Granted, he deserves it. But I think Poe loves us all too much to go and do that to us. Don't you, Poe?

Heh. You do have a point, but I'll probably be buying Animerimanga anyways for Warmth, so I'd rather have another artist in there I'd really like, so I don't feel like A) a sucker or B) an MT fanatic.
