Considering the original topic, has anyone here ever thought that one of the reasons Elves hate Half-Elves so much might be that some Half-Elves, or all Half-Elves might be capable of things or have abilities that full blooded Elves are incapable of? I'm thinking that the same thing that causes Half-Elves to become Errants might also grant other abilities, possibly, like a greater innate ability for magic for example.

Well there's always a question of what abilities the other race the half elf was born from possesses.

Yup. I guess one of the things I'm trying to say is that perhaps 'normal' Elves might have found that half human Elves had certain natural abilities that they found threating, perhaps to their species as a whole, but in my opinion, more likely threatening to their status among humans, trolls, etc. This kinda occured to me when I noticed that Elves are pretty much the Top Dogs in ES.

That said, this conversation regarding why elves kill half-elves reminds of a book series I've got. Can't remember the title or author... Anyway, elves have invaded earth from an alternate dimension and conquered the humans. Half-elves are forbidden because they take elven magical abilities and human psychic abilities, combine the two, double the power, and then go off to kick elven ass. Meanwhile, the humans are slaving away in the fields and the elves are eating gourmet food, hanging out in the harem of hundreds of hot human concubines, or killing people simply because they can. And of course, a half-elf gets loose, becomes allies with other half-elves and some dragons, and goes off to upset the entire status quo.

Dragonblood and Dragonbane?(There's a third one) I think that's what you're talking about. I read the last two, could never find the first one.

...Though on second thought that might not be a good thing. It could just make you one more LABRAT or other such that slink about here. Kind of like minor criminals who go to prison, they just come out worse.
