Is it just me or does this current strip imply that the elves activly hunt down ANY half-elf they hear about?

Furthering this notion(The above was kinda rhetorical) does this mean that they dont know about Ian's home city, or just that they cant find it?

There is also the fact that killing random half elves is quite different from attacking an entire, and possibly well fortified, city. It may just be that they kill em whenever the chance comes up and as long as there isn't too much effort involved.

Or this could be speciesism on Ian's part.

If the Elves think they are the "Perfect" race, then any half-elves would be a smudge on their record. Or at least, that's how it seems to be.

Elves the perfect race? Rupert would have none of it.

*Krylex, in Rupert's stead, stands up and yells "HEIL JORDAN!!!"

How could elves be perfect, when so many think the humans are?

Umm that doesnt really seem to be the case. Elves are obviously extremly feared. A roomfull of toughs sat down and looked the other way when tiny little Sarine dropped her hood. Think of what 20 well prepared elves could do.

Also, many half elves are Errants, that is screwed mentally or physically. (A la, Ian's sister) So even in a fully city, they have their hands full taking care of each other, they dont really seem to have the resources to build extreme defenses. (Or perhaps they DID build them when they first got there, and maintaning them is where their resources go to?)

Hmm...

Or perhaps something more sinister. I really don't see any reason why we should trust Ian at all. For all we know he could be a very dangerous Errant. Perhaps he wants Meji to stay away from the elves because they're looking for him. (Could he be who Sarine is searching for right now?)

I always thought Errants acted like completely normal people, with the exception of sometimes they snap and everyone around winds up dead. And they don't remember a thing about it.

Hmm, no. That Errant Sarine killed early on was definatly NOT acting in a normal manner. Maybe normal enough around crowds, but he certainly had something weird going on about him. (Not to mention he was a murderer...)

You mean you're not suppose to think of ES during times not in the forums or viewing the comics?
I think it's fun. Give some creative output to us ES readers and it's fun to see when someone is right.
And only the Chosen ones get answered by Poe. *someone comes up and whispers into my ear* oh. you mean he just answers randomly and has no preference other then easy question? darn. *snaps fingers in a dejected fashion.*

Seeing what the Elves think of half-Elves what do you want to bet that Trolls actually are vegitarians with monacles and snooty British accents.

Actually they’re a matriarchal, tribal based sociality with each clan usually being lead by the oldest/most powerful female magic user.

Other fun facts about them: They practice a form of ritual cannibalism as part of their relegious system. (mostly having to do with death and the afterlife, not as some sort of 'offering to the gods' or thing like that)

Only females troll actually ever develop the ability to use magic (which is more or less why the trolls are a matriarchal society).

Most of their skirmishes with mankind are the result of humans trying expand into troll lands, not because of any sort ‘We’re just plain evil and like to kill soft, squishy humans’ thing.

They don’t actually eat humans (well, unless they were really, really starving and had nothing else to eat) and most of the rumors of them doing so were started by a misunderstanding about a single incident… after a rather long, difficult battle with a group of humans defending a newly built settlement, the trolls decided to honor them in the traditional manner trolls use to show respect to strong warriors who fight against and are killed in battle… they ate part of their flesh so their spirit would continue to live on after them. (as I said, the trolls have a kooky little belief system)

Yeah, but you would need to explain the entire world in which ES is set, in Tolkien-esque detail, in order to make up for that HORRIFYING AS FUCK AVATAR.

GAWD, Poe, I'm torn between saying thats the coolest avatar ever and committing seppuku with a slinky.

Actually, I wouldn't mind reading a lengthy explanation on the ES universe. Ranging from dialects to pronounciation to naming to history to families to evolution, just like Tolkien did.

Woo.
