In all seriousness, the next comic should be among the more interesting ones Poe's done in awhile, plotwise.

One of the pillars which hid the floating city for all those thousands of years, or perhaps one of the pillars which keep it afloat or keep a barrier around it (ala Solaris from Xenogears and any other major RPG with a futuristic city)?

These are the previously stated artifacts that make people avoid this place. The further you go past them, the more uncomfortable you get. I presume the screaming starts somewhere in there.

Sarine has to turn it off for them (at least Jon and goon, possibly the immortals) to pass. Lord knows what watchdogs will come out if they just blow it.

I find it terribly amusing that the guy Sarine basically mind-fucked is still in zombie land... gotta wonder if whatever she did to him permanently FUBARed a few important parts of his brain. As for the floating pointy thing... I can't help but wonder if it causes hallucinations like that music-video/heat stroke hallucination from Beavis And Butthead Do America? Or maybe they just cause excrutiating pain, and if you're around too many or don't go away like you're supposed to, it makes your heart explode with enough force to blow apart your ribcage, shortly followed by one's head going Scanners, as if Michael Ironside just mentally skull-fucked you again. Yeah... that'd be the magic right there... Just wouldn't want to be too close to the poor bastard when it happens. Not without a riot shield at least to block the spray of gore and bone shards.

How about a little blood magic to break the spell? That's be a good use for the goon.

I think Meji had the right idea. Use the brain-zapped guy to carry her around on his back. That would be so cute and she would stop complaining and have more concentration to blow stuff up.

Nah. Poe just flies his helecopter over the minefield and watched as it is cleared by the legions of addle-brained groupies that follow him everywhere. Then he can land and loot the corpses.
