I don't really have anything much to say. I just felt like starting one of these again.

I like cats... except when they pee on things that you like.

Presumably from one of the wildcat websites that Impy has been looking at recently. That or a quote from Sigfried and Roy.

Sigfried and Roy... in my opinion, the world's most romantic couple. Gay or otherwise.
However my Republican side dislikes their sparkles and wants to beat their voices down an octave.

From Poe himself, in a fanciful discussion about my desire to have a GIANT KITTY TO CUDDLE! (note: I do not plan to have an actual giant kitty, except maybe an ocicat, which is more of a large spotted cat than the sort of giant kitty we were discussing.)

I believe it was in response to my answer to the question of how to keep it from eating the other small cats.

And here I was having a mental image of a very large predatory feline mewling happily in Impy's lap, only to turn into a vicious Poe-eating monster whenever she is not around.

You know, like in the cartoons where something is amazingly cute in the presence of one character, and turns into a horrible monster with the other, yet when the second character tells the first, belief is not a possibility.

Heh. Tigers.

We already have one of those, his name is Morgan. He's a fuzzy little pain in the toes... literally.

Edit: Also, did you know that apparently there is an abombination known as a "toyger" which is a housecat bred for tiger-like markings?!

That honestly seems pretty true for any cat.

Morrigan? You named the cat after the celtic nightmare queen, goddess of slaughter and sovereignty... and you expected anything good to come of it?

Edit: Ah, Morgan. Sorry that I got the name wrong.
Thats a bit better. Morgans are merely malicious water sprites that drown the land and lure children to their deaths.

What can I say? Its a fitting name for someone who wants to pillage the high seas... or just help some young man drown his sorrows. All the cases of alcohol-related deaths should be worthy sacrifices to the spirits of the waters.

Just speaking from personal experience, but big kitties like bobcats, cougars, lynx, etc. happen to find small kitties quite delicious.

Also, ocelots might SEEM like a cool pet at first, but then you realize that they're insufferable assholes just like housecats, but with three times the mass and attitude.

Nah, ocicats. They're just a breed of spotty housecat that someone thought looked like an ocelot. No wildcat in there. If you want one of those, you get a Bengal, which are hybridized with Asiatic Wildcats- the excuse being that they're immune to some virus or other, so someone thought it might be a good idea. They're legal to be sold as house cats once they're 4 generations away from actual wild cats, but they're still slightly bigger, more muscular, hyperactive, and have claws like meathooks. Oh, and spotty.

I've met a few, actually, they're kinda cool cats.

Some friends of mine have a cat they say is 1/4 bobcat. They also have her daughter (who is presumably 1/8 bobcat, but has a normal housecat tail). They are both very fine cats, even if the older one is a bit aggressive when asserting her dominance over their other cat, and the younger is still brimming with youthful exhuberance.

And of course, the above quote generally applies to all cats, as far as I could ever tell. In the case of smaller cats, however, you at least still have the option of physically overpowering them.

I dunno, when my cat was in his younger days he'd routinely outfight both myself and my dad by dint of moving faster and being nastier. Have you ever tried to grab an enraged housecat? Wherever you stick your hand, there's usually a claw or five there to meet it. Also, they twist around all crazy and bite and stuff.

I have scars, no joke.

My childhood kitty was, as most cats are, an insufferable prick.

He bit my dad once. Small animals tend to stick to walls then slide straight down towards the ground after they've been hurled across a room - rather than bounce off as you might expect.

That cat would go outside to sit on the top of the fence on a daily basis. It would meow and whine at the neighbors dogs until they were in a mass frenzy. Those dogs would be barking for hours, scratching at the fence posts and beating their heads against the boards.

The day they finally broke down that fence, by no coincidence, is the first time I heard the word "disemboweled" in practical use.

Ah... memories.

My sister owns two Zawadi Bengals. They are freakishly intelligent, extremely soft, make lots of noise, have a thing for running water, and occasionally have hyper phases and tear around the house like blue assed flies.

They're also insanely expensive, though :(

You apparently don't like cat scratches and bites as much as I do. I seldom have trouble grabbing even an enraged housecat. But, if the claws and teeth bother you that much, remember humanity's primary evolutionary advantage: Tools.

Yes, nothing calms down a housecat more than a shotgun.
