Honestly, in the third panel Jon is suppose to be pulling out a shotgun. Unfortunately, it was poorly rendered and the end of the barrel got cropped out of the panel.

Many of you have been saying that the guy hitting Jon in the back isn't Warrell, however Impy has stated that it is, and that Poe just coloured him lighter so he is easier to see. Prine also mentioned that this fight sequence was, according to Poe, going to be fairly extended.

Ooooh, good, I'm in the mood for one of Poe's patented "knock 'em down, drag 'em out" duels to the bloody death. I wanna see knives, nose-bitings, thumbs in the eye and throat, and Sarine wandering in afterward thinking Hell, no, I'm not gonna clean up this #$%& mess!

Yum! I've got chile for supper tonight, too.

Regardless of how bad he got hit, I figure if Warrel has enough energy to jump out of the way, it's not a difficult assumtion that he'd have enough energy to counter-attack.

Now that I look at it, actually, it seems more like it could've gone through the shoulder. It's hard to tell from the angle.

In regards to the discussion on bullets == lead, is it known whether the ES. world even has the same elements as ours? They could have some metal that's sexier for bullets.

There really isn't any better, unless you're shooting at tanks or something. Lead is dense, cheap, and easy to work with.

Not enough weight (mass density).

Highly impractical for anything other than anti-tank AP rounds. It doesn't deform enough to be useful against flesh, it's much more difficult to work with than lead, and inhaling dust from that shit when you lathe it or seat it into the case is a good way to die a slow and painful death.

So, wait- why does he have a shotgun in panel 3, but a revolver in every other panel?

Latest strip shows him holding his right side.

So it does. Like I said, it was difficult to tell from the angle.

Either way, the wound wasn't fatal, and that made all the difference.

Several granules of neutron star material in a magnetic matrix?

Not very useful unless you plan on shooting the very center of the earth.
