I Build / DM / Play on NWN PW servers. I'm also on the build / DM team for a NWN2 server.

I currently play on one called Sendaria. But, I DM build for one called Cormyr/Dalelands

WoW graphics, while nice, are also a bit too cartoonish for my tastes and I also dislike the grind and prefer more RP. Add to that the fact that NWN servers are free to play on and its a total win.

With many of the restrictions to module size and system specs, don't look for NWN servers to vanish when NWN2 comes out. There will be few servers that have the specs to handle a good sized NWN2 module. Also, the client side specs are a bit high for many of the NWN players. So the NWN servers will be around for some time longer.

Stop bitching you half assed warlocks. Getting the succubus was EASY, so was getting the felhunter (done it as undead).
You want hard? The nightelf druid's aquaform quest. At level 16, you need to get all the way from Darkshore to fucking Westfall.
And I did it when no one even knew where westfall was (2nd week after the game was relised in Europe).

Ah, I miss those days... *goes to do obscure elite quests, alone*

That is full of stupid. Take the boat, then swim south from Menethil - you're done. I would also like to note that the world map came with release.

Yah, I'm gonna have to agree with that. Druid's aquaform quest blows hard. I think I died like 3 times trying to swim all the way out there.

Show me another mainstream graphical RPG that even attempted to simulate pen and paper, or you're just bullshitting. The last two lines sorta proves it, but...

There are none. NWN was the only one which attempted, which made me excited about it--at the time. When I tried using it, though...

I could start listing all the things NWN failed to bring to the game, but I won't bother. What they did was port Baldur's Gate into a 3D engine, nothing more. A crap 3D engine. Hell, building mods in BG was more fun that that piece of shit. At least things looked good, even if it was a permanent isometric view.

NWN was a bloody disappointment. It failed to live up to each and every expectation the hype build up about it.

And maybe there were complex campaigns and I just didn't find them. I never bothered to look hard, as even if they were there, the NWN graphics engine sucked ass, and as I mentioned, the interface was a bitch.

I found one which I was excited about at the time, but it was never completed as far as I know.

As for the aquaform quest, try doing it as a Horde--you have to go to the same place in Westfall. Yeah... in the middle of Alliance territory. Even then, it isn't really hard, it's just a long swim.

Of course, back in the beginning of the game, I swam from Westfall to Menethil just for the sake of exploration. Fun stuff, even if I ended up in a hellspit of murlocs 20 levels above my own when I finally got there.

you think THAT is bad.... do the horde scepter quest after you get broodlords head...something really easy go into the middle of the elf island and find a sprite thats floating there... ohhh dont worry there are many elite guards there that will show you the way, after they turn you into a bloddy pulp and then the 60 players /spit /poke /lol at you for the next 20 minutes....

PVP servers gotta love em

I'll give you the graphics weren't what I expected, but I kinda like the interface. My biggest complaint is that creating a decent balanced combat experience for classes other then fighter is a pain.

However, if you're after a decent complex campaign experience I'd say go with any of the following (on nwnvault.com):
1) The sunless citadel (3rd ed. d&d adventure conversion, has an associated module, forge of fury). Supports the PRC which adds many classes and prestige classes to the game, and modifies some to more closely follow 3.5 pnp rules.

2) Just about anything by Stefan Gagne. Penultima has somewhere around 12 episodes (inluded "re-rolled") and the hex coda series looks to be shaping up very well.

3) In the company of thieves series. (grand theft otto and metal of honor)

4) A dance with rogues

I'd add that witch's wake is a good module, but it since it will never be finished (Atari vs WotC issues since an employee made it) kinda hurts the complex campaign part.

But making a solo fighter build on what's supposed to be a team server is fun! :)

Seconding #4- love the storyline on that one. Very good roguey gameplay with loads of dialogue (part 2 has ~110,000 lines) and graphic sex scenes. You start out as a princess and get to experience all the fun of having your castle sacked and friends and family murdered. After that, survival.

Another good series is the Dreamcatcher/Shadowlords/Demon one. The author combined good writing with l33t construction skills, resulting in modules everyone loved. Was even offered a position at Bioware as a result of them.

The AL series, particularly AL2: Crimson Tides of Tethyr.

I liked A Hunt Through The Dark, at least the first several chapters. The Wanderer by BGP Hughes wasnt bad either.

Can't think of any otherd st the moment, but there were others. You don't fault NWN just from playing the crappy original campaign and nothing else...

Meji in the pimp-suit really reminds me of my Mithra Red Mage child progeny character (Voiree Misallo). Very akin attitudes and looks. Aaah, I'm glad I made my character before it was uploaded or it'd look like plagiarism.
