Show me another mainstream graphical RPG that even attempted to simulate pen and paper, or you're just bullshitting. The last two lines sorta proves it, but...
There are none. NWN was the only one which attempted, which made me excited about it--
at the time. When I tried using it, though...
I could start listing all the things NWN failed to bring to the game, but I won't bother. What they did was port Baldur's Gate into a 3D engine, nothing more. A
crap 3D engine. Hell, building mods in BG was more fun that that piece of shit. At least things looked good, even if it was a permanent isometric view.
NWN was a bloody disappointment. It failed to live up to each and every expectation the hype build up about it.
And maybe there were complex campaigns and I just didn't find them. I never bothered to look hard, as even if they were there, the NWN graphics engine sucked ass, and as I mentioned, the interface was a bitch.
I found one which I was excited about at the time, but it was never completed as far as I know.
As for the aquaform quest, try doing it as a Horde--you have to go to the
same place in Westfall. Yeah... in the middle of Alliance territory. Even then, it isn't really
hard, it's just a long swim.
Of course, back in the beginning of the game, I swam from Westfall to Menethil just for the sake of exploration. Fun stuff, even if I ended up in a hellspit of murlocs 20 levels above my own when I finally got there.
