Please learn the fuck about Superman, because it's obvious at the moment that none of have you have ever cracked a comic.

Superman is an idiot who relies solely on his superpowers, as PsionicsNOTMagic already mentioned. He goes into every single stupid trap anyone puts up for him. Just throw some girlie off the top of a skyscraper, you know Supie will come and set himself up. Then, he smashes everything around him in order to get out of the trap that everyone else would have anticipated in the first place. I wonder who pays for all the repairs?
Batman, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. He doesn't have superpowers, but he's smart. He thinks and prepares himself, because if he makes a single mistake, he's dead. I suggest "Return of the Dark Knight" and "DK2" for reading. There you can see how Batman deals with Superdumb when the going gets tough.

One of the more mind-boggling uses of power (Plus trap Jimmy):

The conversation was Superman vs Goku, not Superman vs Batman. We've already got canon comics that deal with that. :v

Also, I suggest Superman: Red Son which shows that Commie Supes can fuck over Commie Bats easily.

Commie Superman was exceptionally super genius though... he beat Lex in Chess!

The comic is neatos.

That's because Superman is stupid. No one cares if they're accurate. :v

Crap, guys. Stop arguing about DBZ and DBZ-related topics. You are all tempting fate here.

Yeah but DBZ is repetitive and uninteresting.

Superman keeps it somewhat interesting. Not much tho, IMO.

But better than Dragonball bullshit.

Superman isn't stupid. He's actually a very good tactician, the problem is that he always puts civilian lives ahead of winning fights. So bad guys can always escape by exploiting this.
Writing Superman is very difficult, mostly because he's so iconic and because in the course of the last eighty or so years pretty much every idea around him has been explored in some way or form. Superman can and will be able to fuck up anyones day if he wanted to, but he generally opts not to.
Unlike most heros who're always trying to be more powerful Superman is always trying to be less powerful so he doesn't hurt people too much.

Read Up Up and Away(the first major superman storyline post Infinite Crisis) that was pretty damn good.

Actor.

I actually didn't know some of that stuff, thanks! ...For real, I wasn't being sarcastic.

Still, though, he relies too much on his powers. Think about it like Chi Bi: Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang devised a plan that was capable of succeeding thanks to the fact that Cao Cao relied far too much on his military might, rather than tactics.

Even better, think of it as a tough guy relying soley on his toughness vs. a guy who knows kung fu.

Plus some Kryptonite.

The big problem with DBZ was that the anime caught up with the manga. At first, they tried to turn a monthly manga chapter into a month of episodes-- which resulted in people squatting, grunting, and glowing for six episodes in a row. Later, they tried doing "filler"-- stories specifically for the anime that were non-canon with the manga. Unfortunately, whoever was writing them couldn't write...

And then, of course, are the people who think the entire concept was silly in the first place, and that the entire show was badly written and badly paced.

The sad thing is that they were obscenely successful. They captured every testosterone-poisoned adolescent boy in America. The little abominations were too young and stupid to notice the death of plot, character deapth, humor, drama, originality, and a billion other things as long as something on the screen was blowing up. Yes, big monkey go bang. Get over it.

This isn't a poke at whatever the fuck studio keeps cranking out this bullshit. They are doing what every respectable capitalist would do: profit off of the stupidity of the masses. Indeed, DBZ is a sad commentary on the rest of the human race. That we can be so easily entertained by thirty minutes of flashing light and people floating around, showing off their pecs.

Big monkey go bang.

Its the same problem in every form of media. We don't want our daily news... we want our Bomb Damage Assessment channel. We don't want to see a movie that is actually interesting or novel, just one that shows people getting the crap kicked out of them in cooler looking ways. And the really sad thing is that I am not immune. *sob*

Technically, Superman isn't stupid. He's a dick. Everything he does is another opportunity for him to be a dick.

I wasn't calling Superman stupid personally. I find the entire concept stupid.

Yeah, we all know now that you have to fly into the sun under warp speed and slingshot away.

No.

The real problem with DBZ is that it was never intend to be.

The autor (akira something) did the dragonball serie, that was, at the biggining, a modern version and interpretation of the old chinese story of the monkey-king(almost every main character of the first serie are from this story).

The manga (and the anime) was very over-successful in asia and in europe (that was at the end of the 80's / beggining of the 90's, so it wasn't on american TV), and after multiple saison (where the story got a little away for the monkey-king story) the autor decide to stop and move to something else.

Probleme was that DB was a good money maker, and the editors and TV executives decided to change it in a true cash-cow, and "very strongly advise" the autor to continue the serie, and that why BDZ was created.

The fact was that Akira Sthng (the autor) didn't enjoyed making DBZ and started to make the serie longer and longer in action sequence, that was asking less interest and effort from him.

In fact if you have follow the story you should have realise that the story had at least 3 to 5 occasion to end the serie(the story just end at one point, at the opposite of DB where the plots were mix with the other in a sort of continuity).

The reason for that is simple:
The autor finish the story and said: "Ok that's finish I move to something else".
And editors and TV-executives came back again and again to "very strongly advise" the autor to continue the serie.

It was some periode that the autor enjoyed (the sayan super-heros with gohan, for exemple), but mostly he just did it because peoples wanted him to do that and only that, even if he wasn't enjoying himself in his work.

So don't be suprise that DBZ seemed to be always the same thing: when your not enjoying what you do, you don't put a lot of work in it.

We have definitely been babbliing too much about DBZ. The Japanese influence is corroding Neko's ability to speak into gutteral engrish. The horror must end!

I liked DBZ. Mostly because it gave me an excuse to wake up early every day.

That has to be the worst spelling of Akira Toriyama I've ever seen.
