The Civil War arc is yet another example of 'too many cooks' syndrome. They are trying to do too damned much with it, with too many people working on it. Quite naturally, it's not working near so well in practice as it did in theory. I'm kinda sorta halfassed following it, because I'm a marvel fan of old, though lately DC is getting more of my good words. Even though it's the more overpowered of the two universes. you know what crossover I really wanna see? Superman VRS Goku. He wouldn't need magic or kryptonite or any of that shit, he'd just beat the everloving royal blue-and-red crap of of Supes. And any comic where Superman gets the shit kicked out of him is good
I think Spiderman got played royally. Tony Stark/Iron Man gained and betrayed his trust, and Spidey is enough of a good guy at heart to go back on his words. And there is something to be said for sticking to your word even when its not working out the way you thought it would. Both sides of the fight have their morons and doofs, neither side is totally right or wrong. And I'm hoping to see Cap take Iron Man appart, supertech armor and all in a one-on-one.
Nick Fury is out there somewhere doing his thing, waiting for his moment. By the by, all of you who are calling Deadpool, or Punisher, or Spidey the coolest Marvel character seem to have forgotten ole one eye. Appart from The Watcher(who can't do anything) and, maybey, if he even still exists, the Beyonder, I guarantee that Fury has a better idea of what is going on and what will happen than any other character in the Marvel universe right now. When the time is right, he will take decisive action, and God only knows wich side he will be on, though I suspect he will be backing up the Independants.
If the Fury of today is anything like the Fury of the 60's, then he's going to side with the guys who are against registration. Expect awesome asskickings to ensue shortly afterward.
*sigh* I miss his tommy-gun-toting, cigar-chomping badass days before he became a one-eyed cigar-chomping James Bond.
