A little time magic + a usually very slow casting complete heal spell = a soldier that, unless you manage to really damage them, can be back to fighting shape in a couple of minutes?

Well, we've all been challenging Poe that Jon hasn't been doing much to justify his main character status lately. If ever a situation demanded some kind of apotheosis, this would be it.

Magic and blade skill versus magic and blade skill, Team Protagonist is dogmeat. Bring on the cheap holds, dry-gulching, back-shooting, execution-style blasting assassin-fu, Jon.

(On the other hand, Sarine still has that spell she was forming in her off-hand while she charged, now conviniently obstructed by her body from Warrel's LOS. There's a outside chance she was counting on this. But my vote is she's out of options.)

Has anyone ever considered the possibility that maybe Sarine's gonna die? I mean, it wouldn't be the first time he's killed off a main character.

Not if magic itself is not affected by time affecting magic. I'm guessing this is the case or the time spell itself would be recursive...

I still think that Warrel's on the short-end here. I wouldn't go too much by facial expressions either. Sarine has had 3,000 years to learn how to lie with her face.

After looking at all the threads, Sarine is too critical to key plot threads. She's not gonna die, unless Poe-san wants to really stretch the plot out. Whereas, Warrel has just about completed his task, unless he gets a new one.

There is still room for Sara to back-stab Warrel and then get both Jon and Sarine out of there. It's obvious that if she doesn't kill Jon, the Ensigerum will kill her and I strongly suspect that she doesn't want to kill Jon. This leaves her very few choices. Actually exactly one, join her brother and his new Elvin friend and the only thing in her way is Warrel, who she doesn't have a lot of emotion invested in.

And have Poe give Jon blue balls for the rest of the comic? No way.

Yeah, but seriously.....never know.

Sarine is in pain either way, so the facial expression may just be letting go a bit. I have a feeling that the spell she was building is going to take affect very shortly, launched when Warrel brushed past her, not even noticing her touch.

Overconfidence is a bitch.

Warrel is spending time gloating over his just-injured enemy.

... yeah, he's gonna die. You never gloat. Until their dead. And even then, hit the body again a few times just to make sure.

Sarine's only hope, at this point, is to start whining and screaming at the Dungeonmaster and hope she can wheedle a compromise.

What? No Dungeonmaster in the storyline? Well, she's screwed for sure. Time for Ellis to jump on Warrel's head and rake a paw over each eye. If he does this, he'll be howling "Throw something, you stupid elf-bitch!!," at Sarine and enjoying the moment hugely.

That's funny, I have a totaly different theory:

Panel 4: Not a surprise but the song of Sarine attack.
Panel 5: Sarine, totaly concentrated on her attack (to strika a time-fighter) is cut at the leg by Warrel.
Panel 7: Sarine completely surprise beacause she cannot anderstand how he can be alive and capable to speak.

Panel 4 to 7: Warrel had been slash/slay/cut in two by Sarine but because of his self-confidance and side-effect of the time magic spell, he haven't realised that his body had been deadly-cut by the elf.

And next comics Warrel will raise his weapon and suddenly fall on the ground, bleeding to death by the cut he never realise he had.

She is. Even if she wasn't, realizing of course that staring studiply with shocked expression is a perfectly reasonable response to having your thighbone suddenly bisected.

I found it funny that the line where warrel is saying, "I'm feeling torn here,etc..." is pointed directly at the spot on his side where Jon shotgunned him out of the air.

I don't know if it was intended as humor, but I lol'ed :lol:

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. She seems to be looking at something behind him.

Perhaps this really is (Jon's chance to be a hero / Sara's chance to score a team kill / etc* ), and Warrel just doesn't know it's coming yet.

Personally I'd be quite satisfied with that result. Sarine isn't as badass as she thought (or the Ensigerum are a lot better than she thought), which leaves us with some interesting comments from her about the Ensigerum history afterward. But she's still saved by someone else... Jon, Sara, etc*.

(I wonder... can time-monks envelope others in their time fields? I'm pondering this cause I wonder if Jon and Sara could have had a family chat while all this was happening. Hell, maybe Sara's telepathy alone could resolve any chatting needed in very little time, allowing her to act as necessary).

* Alternate worst (or best?) case scenario: Ian's about to do it again.

I'm 'torn' between this being a feint so that Warrel is taken out by an attack he doesn't even realise she's already made, or learning curve stage. She's seen that they zip about, but needed to actually been in combat with him using the same type of weapon to figure out what exactly he's doing and how to counteract it.

And from her expression in the last panel, her reaction may well be "Time magic!? Don't you know that will make the world explode?"

I call BS on this being part of Sarines plan, since Warrel could of attacked her anywhere he wanted... so she wasn't expecting to be super-screwed like this. Should of listened to John...

Don't know if I'm allowed to do this, but here we go:

Red = Jon
Blue = Warrel
Purple = Sarine
Brown = Sara

Which would be hilarious considering he fell for that once already. Lack of focus, indeed.
