Probably not a good idea. Filler art or strip content or whatever, Poe wrote it, and the rights to it are his. Putting stuff like this up on a wiki without the copyright holder's permission isn't a good idea. (Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, and I don't even play one on TV, but that's the way other wikis I'm involved in work.)

If His Poeness or Caffeine Angel Studios (i.e., Impy) give permission for it, however, this seems like a sensible approach, and I'd help. Need that permission first, though.

Since the entire wiki is about Poe and his work, I don't see a problem with it on that basis. We can always take it down if necessary.

However, in the end it's up to Poe. Typically he takes the filler down, so he may wish it not to be made available at all.

I take it down because I don't want it in the archives of the actual comic, I don't really care if it ends up somewhere else.

Best Avatar Ever.

And thanks for the Okay to keep the filler online, I'd have taken it down if you'd have said otherwise.

Actor.

Thanks, indeed. There's now (in fact, has been for a while) a "Filler art" article in the wiki. Seems like a reasonable way to proceed is to populate it with links to the art, one link per piece of art. (I will roll back multiple references to any particular panel, in the interest of keeping the thing both useful and manageable.) Anybody got a better idea of how to use it?

Simply create a Category for it and upload them there, then people can view it all they want to. Once it's all there then other Editors can develop the concept as the muse strikes us :-)

BTW, WRT Wiki, there are some extensions I've been meaning to ask for and the top of the list is Category Tree. Actually, there are three that would be good. The second one is EasyTimeline. The third would be VirtualHost, which is more a robustness issue.

CatTree is great and really makes Categories work well. EasyTimeline shows great results, on Wikipedia. However, The memory-Alpha folks have trouble implementing it and I've had my own share of troubles with making it work. But then, I run Win2KAS-SP4/Cygwin and Ploticus conflicts with my Prolog interpreter. Not sure about the implementation problems at Memory-Alpha. However, for storyline diagrams, EasyTimeline would be great!

I just want to make one note. The wiki contains only Poe's work plus whatever we are willing to donate to it. It shouldn't be under Creative Commons and in fact, Impy should review the copyright issues. My own wiki's are under very restrictive copyright but I don't allow other editors either.

Poe's work is copyrighted to him whether he posts it to the wiki or not. We register his copyrights every year for the material generated in that year. I believe I made it quite clear when the wiki was set up that I did NOT want it generically under the Creative Commons because everything in it pertains to Poe's copyrighted material. People are merely cataloguing information Poe has already created.

The exception comes when people add their own observations or wit to information provided ABOUT Poe's work. In which case, it's still derivative, but it is in their voice. Still, a good general rule is not to post anything to the wiki you're wedded to having any rights to. I'm not certain what the precise rule might be for an annonymously collaborative project talking about existing copyrighted material. I'll check with our lawyer and get back to you.

Good for you!! :-D

I'll catalog, index, and even rework the occasional article, no problem, as long as Poe owns it :-) . I hadn't realised that you'd already done some of that research. Personaly, I am very aware of 'rights' and I'll be glad to sign any disclaimers that are required. I only brought it up because the default copyrights for Mediawiki are 'Creative Commons', which is why I don't allow external editors in my wiki. However, that's an exremely variant case from yours. Check the copyright text on the wiki.

PS. Did you know that there is also a Mediawiki extension that integrates a PHBB userbase and the wiki?

While I'm rather late in saying this, thanks for the archive of fillers, actor.
