Randy makes an interesting point when he implies that people should stop reading comics once they come to the conclusion that they do not like it. Yet he seems to forget that people continue reading/watching terrible shit even though they know how bad it is because they've grown attached to the characters and the story. Sure it's a crap, but it's crap they've become familiar with and, hopefully, it will stop being crap at some stage.

It's also a good way to only end up with advice from horrible sycophants who believe you can do no wrong even if you were to start drawing via a pen up your arse. People who don't like a story/comic/movie/whatever have as much valid advice (perhaps even more) than all the adoring fans that read/watch every day.

I was guilty of this when it came to collecting Amazing Spider-Man at the beginning of high school. It was nice to revisit for a while, but for some reason the story taking place didn't strike me as convoluted until well into a stack, not to mention instances in the story where it was implied that you buy another issue not part of the major series for clarity (clones and their own little side stories where something major happens).

Reading it was just part of my normal routine, then I stopped because well... it WAS sycophantic. Spidey was dumped into terrible stories I couldn't get into anymore, but I kept buying issue after issue.

I guess it doesn't help that during that collection phase I got a hold of Ronin by Frank Miller, which pretty much turned other comic books I thought were cool into complete crap (and it was only one graphic novel).

The only comment I shall make is that the "I are Serious Catgirl, this is Serious Con" pics are great.

And that For Better or For Worse isn't very good.
