This idea hit me at 4:30 this morning, so it's either going to sound brilliant or is the result of a half-dazed stupor, but I'd like some opinions..

Randy has said that his characters are either based entirely on people in his life or collections of characteristics of people in his life. He has also said (I can't remember whether in the blurbs at the bottom of his comic or as a comment in the titles) that this would be his last winter in Boston. This storyline makes me wonder if this is his twisted, yet brilliant way of moving his main character to a warmer locale, just as he may be doing.

If this is the case, we might be seeing a switch in the cast and supporting cast roles. Jason and Aubrey (and possibly PeeJee) may be reduced to cameos as Davan (and Randy) move out of Boston.

Any thoughts?

it's not that brilliant, many webcomic artists base their comic on their real live. it would only be logicly if randy moved to texas, davan would do the same thing. I just know to few about randy's live to base predictions.

thank you for posting.

Yea, that could work. I know he puts a lot of his own life in the comics, but he also invested a lot in the characters. It would be a difficult move to move characters he spent years building up only to have to create new ones in Texas.

You know, he could always just have Jason and Aubery in another "spin off" comic like New Gold Dreams or MM. (right, like Randy has that sort of time or desire to create THAT much more work for himself)

Problem is, Davan isn't necessarily gone, and neither is Randy.

Randy said they were based on life. Based on life != actual life. As you know, his mother is fine and well, and I believe his father is too. This means that there is some separation.

Besides, Boston is the only place in the world assholish enough to fuel this kind of rage. Rage fueled by stupidity alone is not near rightous enough.

I can think of two other places. One worse and one competitive.

I think NYC creates more rage than Boston, personally. Don't know about Texas, though. Never been there and I don't plan on going (too hot, too dry, Gulf of Mexico).
About how much rage do you think Texas can create?

It's an interesting theory but he's already said himself that the comic has become very loosely based on his life. Completely uprooting the cast seems a bit drastic, especially considering his reason for doing so. In order to make it work, Randy would have to prolong the whole dying dad thing for far too long and that might be too depressing even for Randy.

Well who knows? Fayes death was planned for a while, but that arc didn't take place until recently. Of course it was a suprise to the audience, but Randy did elude to Freds death being imminent (I think?)

"I love you, Faye...wait for me. It won't be long now..."

*shrug*

Maybe both Davan and Peejee being in Texas with Fred is just a catalyst for some noteworthy event, and his ensuing death just being part of all these things happening at once (which is quite typical of real life, as some of you may know.) S*P is built on continuity so it would be like marking another chapter.

Blue Sun Missile has been thoroughyl amused by the reactions everyone is having with the idea that davan might move to texas.

what gave anyone the idea that he will be moving any time soon?
first of all
yes..that dress DOES make you look fat...but its probably because of the beer belly hanging out of it.
but i digress.

Al's Hymens doesnt hit you suddenly and affect you in one big burst of forgetfullness

it is an ongoing disease that affects you slowly throughout your presidency and even while you are writing your memoirs.

Fred IS going to try treatments AND is getting a second opinion.

so to cut it short cause its time for food.
IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD
its only the secind sign of the GRIMMPOKOLYPSE.
Boondocks airing on cartoon network was the first.
