That's our Davan, teaching the youth of our nation the importance of proper nutrition and orthopedic habits. :)

I so wish I wouldn't lose my job if I said stuff like that to customers.

Actor.

*snickers*

I love the look on Fred's face when he catches him, and in the end can't help laughing either.

What a brat! Though I'm not sure the Mom's any better "I'll wait at the front of the store till you decide to take your meds..." Please. What ever happened to a good old fashioned swift smack on the bum.

If she seriously needs to take pills than hitting her for something she can't control would just confuse her.

It seems to me that the strip was poking fun at differences between generations, in terms of parenting. Then again, it might just be Davan having fun, and Fred enjoying the moment.

Yes, that facial expression is fucking priceless : )

The proper way to handle that is to simply tell the child, "No. I will not buy you that cake. Further outcry will also deprive you of *insert next expected treat here*" Then swiftly march the child out of the store, or finish your shopping and 100% ignore any fuss they make.

Medicating a child that young probably wouldn't help. At that point, as much of the problem is behavioral as chemical. The kid has learned that if they make a fuss they get what they want sometimes, or they wouldn't be trying that crap in the first place. Clearly a precedent must be established that such tactics earn you scorn at best and punishment at worst... once it becomes clear that a tantrum doesn't get the results they're after, the little monster will find some other manipulative thing to do. That, too, will need to be taught is ineffective.

And this is why I will never ever bear children. They're way too much a pain in the ass to be worth the 18+ years of hell that goes with them.

I'm going to ignore any deeper meaning that may lie behind this comic and just enjoy the spectacle of Davan doing something particularly evil to somebody because right now, that's as close as I can get to incflicting a righteous arse-kicking upon somebody who richly deserves it. :D

The youth of today is already severely diagnosed for any number of things. Medication simply serves to condition children to remove the onus of control from themselves and place it on the world around them. Now, if the child were, say, bipolar or schizophrenic, then understandably medication would make sense, but odds are that for a child like that it would be ADHD medications, which are generally acknowledged as being over-diagnosed regardless.

Besides, it's still fucking hilarious.

If I had acted like that my ass would be black and blue.

I didn't act like that, though, so I never had to worry about the consequences.

Kinky, but not quite kinky enough. ^_~

Dear god, the look on Davan's dad's face was priceless! Would love to beat that kid to a pulp, though. Am wondering if his dad relaxing a bit will add to their bonding type thing.

Oh, and um, what's up with Davan's beard/facial fur? Is it from being all depressed his mom died, because he's in Texas, or a new look he's going for randomly?

Would be funny as hell, though, if Davan's dad became as sarcastic and traumatizing to wome... erm, people as Davan is. ^_^

He's taken off work to be in Texas. The way I see it, it's more of a, "I don't have to shave, and I got stuff going on. So, why shave?" situation. I know from personal experience, if I have a few days off and I don't have to be anywhere (a rare situation, but it happens), I usually don't bother shaving.

Yep. Typical "I don't give a shit about my looks, it's the farthest thing from my mind at the moment" appearance. I don't give a shit on my days off, apparently.

I kinda like the rugged look on Davan actually, but I'm pretty sure its a bit of a "I've got too much to worry about right now" attitude like others have said.

I think we're all neglecting a very important thing here...

What was the nature of the cake the little girl wanted? Was it a generic sort of carrot cake? An ice cream cake? Perhaps even the fabled Vanilla Suicide where its alternating 1/2 inch layers of cake and ice cream covered in vanilla frosting and liberally sprinkled with chunks of vanilla candies?

GG...is this somehow related to the orthopedic advantages of plunging your feet into different kinds of cake? Because if it is I can tell you right here, right now my friend......studying the benefits of cake related foot wear is a trial full of heartbreak and great personal sacrifice.

Can you handle cake-shoe science? :billnye:

You utter bastard. You have just completely ruined my enjoyment of the blueberry muffin I was about to eat.

In my mind, the Vanilla Suicide has ruined many diets and many lives. It has no set shape or form save for the nature of the desert most needed in a given forum. Sometimes it is a cake, sometimes it is a soda float, and sometimes it is an ice cream bar. Some times, dear God, it is covered in sugar frosted flakes before being deep fried. Am I a bastard for giving birth to such an elusive and ever changing desert?

No, good sir. I only seek to create foods to which I can affix the moniker of "Vanilla Suicide".
