This thread is for people who have read the book, or do not care about spoilers, because there will be totally be some be be be bees. There will be some bees. And some spoilers.

Let us kick it off with poor Hedwig. :( She was a rockin' owl, she didn't hurt anyoneeeee! JK was pretty damned bloodthirsty in this book, compared to everything else, really. Not when compared to a Martin book, I guess.

Anyway, some parts of the book? AWESOME JAWESOME. Some parts? TTLY LAME. The ending? Disappointing. I imagine that Rowling is either going to go back and write some Marauder books (which I would LOVE), or write about the NEWWWWW GENERATION (which I would not love).

Bellatrix should've killed Ron. :(

I'm just in endless bliss knowing that that fucking series is over.
Now I just need to dodge fifty more years worth of movies and I will have achieved nirvana.

He is callousing his eyeballs as part of a shaolin-type training schedule.
All preperation for his rising to the level of forum admin.

I haven't read it, so I have no fucking idea, Saisai.

If it's the end where it's NINTEEN YEARS LATER, and they have all spawned children that they named after DEAD PEOPLE, and now said children are going to learn MAGICKS AT THE SCHOOL OF HARD ROCK, then yes.

That is how it ended.

(Also Harry dies but he had a 1up and comes back to life)

The taboo on Voldemort's name is especially lame and cliche, even for Rowling.

I found some of the ways she tied things together interesting but on the whole was glad for not buying it. Yuck.

If you could taboo someone's name and use it as a MAGIC TRACER, why the fuck didn't they use the same spells to trace other phrases like "HI HARRY POTTER WAT IS UP" and find him much more easily?

I just finished the book a few minutes ago.

I enjoyed it.

the middle parts dragged for a bit, and yes. JK WAS a bit bloodthirsty in this one, but all in all, I liked it.

Blue Sun Missile
still likes the potter series.

I'm about in the middle right now. And I am getting tired of the whole;

Ron: I'm a whiny bitch! I'm going to leave now because I didn't think about how this won't be a fun little camping trip.

Hermoine: RROOONNN!!!!!!!

Ron: /cast apparate

*split to a chapter or so later*

Ron: Wtf were you thinking?! Jumping into a pond naked during winter!?

Harry: Uh... Sword? DUDE YOU SHOULD TOTALLY STAB THIS PHYLACTERY!

Ron: Uh okay... OH NOES I HAVE SELF WORTH ISSUES BECAUSE I HANG WITH HARRY POTTER!

Hermoine: /coldshoulder

Ron: *pathetic attempts to get some ass*

Honestly, this is really boring and does nothing but waste pages. It would have been much cooler if the deluminator could catch spells instead of being Ron's little magic plot device for not being a man.

The biggest disappointment I had with the book was that the ending of the last one made it sound as if the three were going to embark on some sort of zany, magical world tour filled with awesome. All that time spent in previous books talking about dragons in Romania, old Russian schools, Egyptian myths coming to life could have been building up to this. Also getting help from foreign allies like Flamel and the like.

I'm not sure if they even fucking left the country.

BEST SCENE EVER
stupid horcrux locket yelling at ron and him getting all freaked out and sensitive. WHAT PATHOS. What a gloriously imagined setting (in my head). Shoulda made out.
Speaking of, Ginny and Harry makin' out. OW!

Where did the sword come from at the end, I thought the goblin had it.
Since when did draco malfoy do what wand what. oh come on the last book came out three years ago do you honestly expect me to remember that shit.
Snape did nothing for the whole book and then WHOOPS SYMPATHETIC CHARACTER with flashbacks that I DON'T CARE ABOUT. "Here's a bag of rock salt. One day it will be icecream/an evil-seeming character""yeah, don't care. really don't care."
Not to mention the traditional dumbledore expositor chapter and a half. you thought maybe he was dead and we didn't have to go through that this time. HA.
Harry should have really died. then he would have been like jeeziz and I could have had my glorious tragic ending.

Also, if you're going to name your kids after your parents and two dead people who arn't related to you, would it really be too much to name one of them after your WIFE'S dead relatives? maybe one that she actually grew up with? maybe? Maybe one anybody's ever become invested in when reading your book? No Fred James Potter? No Fred Albusever Potter? No? You sure?

And...yes.

Just in case these are questions instead of the wild rantings of a robot princess....

Neville pulled the sword from the Sorting Hat, which was the hat of Godric Gryffindor, and was magically linked to the sword, as was explained in CoS. Basically that greedy lil goblin got fucked over good :v

in HPB, Draco was the one who disarmed Dumbledore, making him the next master of the Elder Wand.

I actually haven't read the series. Any of it. The craze of it never really reached Hialeah, so I didn't hear about it until the movies came out, which I didn't watch. So I gotta ask for an honest answer here, should I read it? Is it good?

Much Love

I read seven books of it, so I'll go with yes.

My argument would be that you shouldn't read it as it's light, children's fantasy that's mostly being promoted by a media machine that's out to a) churn out fat profits from the HP franchise, or b) trying to jump on the HP bandwagon and subsequently churn out fat profits from the HP franchise.

However, you do have spare time at the moment, so you could read it if you're really curious and have nothing better to do. After that tho, you should read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

Read two books out of seven. If you want the bullshitless answer, the books aren't that bad... but there are about a billion things you would probably be better off reading.

If you have a copy sitting around the house and you have a lazy weekend day to burn, go ahead. Otherwise, go to your local library and just start working your way down the scifi-fantasy isles from one end to the other. But it is just not worth buying.
