I liked it, personally. I think it was pretty good. Also, Dresden Codak is great.

Much Love

I agree that EGS's pacing is too bloody slow, but overall I think the comic is pretty damned good. As for this GC thingy, it didn't grab me right off, but I'm gonna give it a read-thru before deciding whether or not it makes my check every update list.

Remember kids, opinions are like assholes: everyone has 'em, and often, we think they stink.

i traulled my way through the archives a few weeks ago, and it was pretty bad. the art's finally starting to get OK, but the comic's obviously about how the artist wishes he was a girl so he could make out with other girls.

My main problem with this comic is that, to me, the main character seems to radiate an aura of boredom. She doesn't even make really respond to the fact that a dragon has crashed ontop of where she sleeps. I don't really have the time with school coming up to read something that is boring. I'm probably going to pick up today where I left off yesterday, mostly because I can't get on WoW yet. My post yesterday was filled with me being pissed I got called into work instead of being able to level my hunter.

edit: I never really liked EGS, I've tried rereading it acouple times but the characters make me flinch away from it eaech time.

GC: i agree with this. the kid shoulda freaked the fuck out and tried to run away or something. that thing was hueg.

EGS: that's because every single character's motivation boils down to "i am a freak and i am afraid everyone will judge me" the artist is obviously a crossdresser.

Having read to the end, I am willing to retract my earlier statement(s). It isn't that bad, not the best I have ever read but by far not the worst.

You all suck and should probably die soon from the obvious debilitating mental deficiency dragging you down in a spiral of forgetting that real comics can be actually good and that you have a family.

i'm not about to say gunnerkreig is gonna set the world on fire with awesome, but i think it's mildly entertaining fluff.

B-grade movies aren't Hitchcocks,

rap music isn't mozart (even when they sample mozart)

trashy sci-fi/fantasy novels aren't shakespeare

and webcomics aren't the Mona Lisa reading shakespeare.

Now, being the uneducated philistine that i am, let me break these down.

I love the trashyness of b-grade movies, and have never really watched any hitchcock films...so i have no opinion on him.

I hate rap music unless it succeeds in making me laugh, mozart is fine, but i never actively listen to it. It's pretty enough, but there aren't any words to sing along to.

I love trashy (and good) fantasy/sci-fi novels, one of my favourite things. Skaespeare may tell some good tales with strong archtypes, but the dated vocabularies quite honestly bore and irritate me. I'm sure some very clever and witty things are being said, but i can't be brought to care.

Art is all well and good, but i will spend at maximum 3 minutes looking at a picture, no matter how well it's executed. Art has just become that disposable in our culture, unless you're an art student. And then you'll spend 5 minutes looking at a picture and 30 minutes to an hour bullshitting about it.

Make a real contribution, Skjie why are you only quoting.
I don't know if you even look at the monitor and look at what you're doing with your computer when you use it.

Spools, you may not like Gunnerkrig, but it has clearly moved you enough to muster a torrent of vitriol from you. If it were truly as lackluster as you imply, it would only warrant boredom from you; you would dismiss it and move on.

But it has evoked a real and strong emotion from you, and that's the purpose of art, isn't it?

That's not art, its entertainement, and it does not entertain me all. The only reason I get so worked up is because all of you kids who had previously impressed me with your intelligence flock like retarded seagulls to a comic that has less creative resonance than bonobo shit smeared on a stucco wall.

Don't give me that "if you're this upset, you must like it somehow" shit. You don't tell that to liberals who rail against the President every oppertunity, do you. No you don't. Becasue you're smart and Australian enough to hate the president as much as they do. But these sagacious political thoughts somehow do not carry over to the sagacious artistic appreciation centers of your sun-poisoned brain, as is proven by your continued helmet-headed stubborn defense of a passable, but ultimately completely worthless cartoon.
