perhaps if posters posting something in a post something thread were to pretend their post was the first post in a new thread and actually do a bit of a setup, give the post a 'topic name' and not just some random link it would be more acceptable to the PS detractors.

now, folowing my own suggestion:

Halo 3 is approaching it's release, and microsoft are pushing their last bid in the multi-million dollar excercise that is their marketing juggernaut in attempt to get unprecedented numbers of market penetration in videogames, nay, all media. Much of this marketing strategy has been your typical cynical "soft drink with our brand name tagged on the label" type stuff, but they have done some interesting things with it.

I missed 3's ARG, but a lot of the ads have been intrigueing and the "Believe" diorama and TV spots are a very cool concept.

I'm pretty impressed with this shit. It seems to me that microsoft has gone all out with this and research on the gameplay itself, making it a science in many respects;

so, does microsoft really need to go this far to make a game they can sell a lot of? are they just pushing as hard as they can to secure the top position? are they aiming for best game ever? Why are they throwing so much money at a game that they could have just cynically pumped out a sequel for and cashed in? Have they actually done this and i am going to be disappointed on september 25th?

also i will weep the sweet joyous tears of an angel if jan james makes a cameo in Halo 3.

Maybe because this game series has become so iconic to their image. Maybe because they care about the fans. Maybe because, this is going to sound cheesy, to many people the game is sort of a way of life. :iiam:

I hate to admit this but I didn't mind playing Halo co-op at one of my mates places while he was sick from work with a broken leg after a biking accident(technically it wasn't broken he'd Degloved the skin just below his knee, giving him the most awesome scar ever).

One of the best things about Halo is that it has Co-Op, something that so many games these days lack on the PC. PC gamers, myself included, who have played Halo and found nothing remarkable probably haven't played it Co-Op which is actually a lot of fun.

My mate and I still laugh at the corridor of doom in the Library, when he was killed and I found a spot that forced the flood to attack me from only one direction and just sat there for five minutes killing and killing and killing until he could respawn(he got up and limped to the kitchen to get some food while waiting). The pile of bodies by the end was massive. In any other FPS I wouldn't even remember doing that but sitting on a beanbag with my mate popping painkillers because his leg was hurting whilst laughing at the carnage is still funny months later.

I prefer Half-Life(1 and 2) to it still, but my former rage towards Halo has abated. And I still think the storyline was paper-thin, not that Half-Life's story was all that deep but without Cutscenes you feel a lot more like you are part of the story. Plus HL levels were much more original and enjoyable to explore.

i am an unashamed halo nerd. It's got space aliens, and i get to shoot those space aliens.

You get to play a superman made by science, who has a smart-talking ephermal chick sidekick. There some things that are like zombies too. you get to shoot them as well.

In conclusion halo's winning formula is the space opera formula. Ultimate Badass kicks butt against an Evil Empire. JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED.
