And I can't find any.
I'm playing the same games for over two years now, and it's time for a change. There *were* some good titles, right? Not that I know of... Except for Portal, even though it was only a mod.
Anyway, I've searched far and wide, and didn't find any game that sounded like fun. I need something to do until the next WoW expansion will get released in october/november.

Any suggestions? I'm not choosy about graphics, but if you suggest an older game, chances are that I already played it.

And yes, I know that this kind of threads only prolong the forum's demise.

Freedom Fighters.
Swat4.
C&C Generals.
Grim Fandango.
Armed and Dangerous.
Quake Four.

I have been out of the loop in the last couple of months, I'm sure some other games have come out between now and then.

Yeah, no. The place is already dead. We're just engaging in a spot of necrophilia.

Well, there's Bioshock, which I prefer on the PC due to mouse controls.

If you don't have a 360, Braid is coming out on PC before the end of the year. It's not often I decide something is one of my favorite games of all time before even finishing it (Portal being the only other recent example).

Crysis is supposed to be quite good, if you have the machine for it.

Honestly, it's been kind of quiet for PC exclusives recently. There are a bunch people are waiting on like Spore, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Fallout 3, Starcraft 2, blah blah blah, but right now it's mostly ports from consoles. And like 15 new MMO's, of course.

Edit: Just thought of 2 more. If you read Penny Arcade, their game is available on Steam and is great fun. It's a mix of streamlined JRPG combat with light point-and-click adventuring. With all the dialog and descriptions written by the guys who do the comic. Also, I found this (extremely) little flash game inexplicably hilarious, and oddly satisfying.

Indeed, it's about as dead as it's going to get, unless Kyhm closes it completely.

Bioshock doesn't like my computer. Nor my dad's or my brother's.
Crysis was rather nice, I'll download the expansion when it comes out.
Burn The Rope is pure awesomeness.
Braid's looking rather interesting. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm also waiting for Spore. We're betting if it'll be worth the hype and the wait (my bet is for 'disappointing').
Starcarft 2 is going to be one hell of a let down. That is, if you actually had any hope for it in the first place.

I just like to add that this is all until WotLK comes out in October.

In other news, I helped when my guild killed Lady Vashj for the first time. It made me understand why people bother with endgame content.

with no exaggeration, I played it from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm... and that's more than I've ever played a single player game in a long time. There's a co-op mode, and tons of challenge modes that remind me of the VR missions from Metal Gear Solid... I don't know if you have to love side scrollers to enjoy it, but it was sooooo fun to go through

also, free side scrolling bliss which I'm sure has made it's rounds on kyhm before

My Starcraft-obsessed buddy got to play Starcraft 2 while we were at PAX, he thought it was awesomeness.

I've hardly played it and I didn't play the demo, so I have no opinion. I'm currently dancing in impatience for Mushroom Men, which I did get to play, and it was so cool!

Apparently Spore is out in Australia already.
I've no money to buy it sadly because I spend all my cash on Comics.

Thats about all Spore is worth... Having played and finished it I was less than entertained... Take good games like Civilization simplify it to the point of irrelevance and you'll have a pretty good idea of what the levels are like.

I quite liked making friends with the other species but I think that was mostly because I was a Herbivore with limited weapons.
Right now I'm in tribal mode and trying to wage war, which isn't going well.
Glad I didn't pay for this. Its not bad, but its not great either.

Yeah I was glad I didn't pay for it... I was ready to go buy a copy for both me and the wife... then I played it.

PJ has it exactly right. They spent alot of time on the technology and not alot on making it a fun game. Wright makes visionary games, some of which were iconic but this one barely has enough novelty value to play more than once or twice (I placed as both an herbivore and a carnivore from cell to space, took less than a days playing all told.)

Even the collecting part of it got fucking boring and they added this little achievement system thats pretty annoying.

They forgot exactly one thing that would've made this game epic: challenge.

The cell stage should've been a paranoia stage, where you were on the run ALL THE TIME and trying desperately to find food. Also, you should've had a hunger bar, and you get DNA points only when eating while the bar is full.

Beast stage: it's too easy to just overload your beast with weapons and go [strike]kick[/strike] eat asses. They should've made a mechanic that makes you hungrier the more complex you are. They should've also made special events like an ice age (where the food is really rare and you'll need to remove some of your abilities because there isn't enough food to sustain a complex creature) or something.

Tribe stage: amusing enough, though too damn simplistic. Took me less than half an hour to finish it.

City stage: WTF is wrong with the game creators that they put such a shitty design for the vehicles? They should've made it EXACTLY the same as the creature design mechanics, where you actually need to find new parts for you supercar. The fact that it hadn't really mattered how your car looked like (wheels on top work too) was also annoying.

Star stage was plain boring.

I have more ideas and many more bad words for the game, but that's enough for now.
