I nearly got into a fist fight with a guy at my work over PSP vs DS, he thought telling me he'd bought a PS3 would impress me. I told him he'd just spend a grand of his parents money on a high end heat sink.

DS looks like it would be a fun console, but I've never had much chance to use it as I don't really use consoles much.

Actor.

I'd said it before, but if you have any interest at all in turn-based strategy games, you need to get Advance Wars: Dual Strike (There's also the later Advance Wars: Days of Ruin which has internet and not just local play, but I which I don't think is as good an introduction to the battle system. Either is good, really).

Also Bleach: Dark Souls is a pretty fantastic fighting game, believe it or not. And I should know, I'm in the top 50 or so players nationwide (I play it on the toilet a lot, and picked up the import version before this) [/neeeerd e-penis]. I haven't seen anything particularly broken or un-counterable even fighting the top-ranked players*, which is pretty impressive considering the amount of flash-stepping and bizarre special powers in the game.

* I should note that I play matches without the Yu-Gi-Oh cards or whatever they are, which I would assume do make it possible to exploit the game. The non-card option seems to be more popular online anyway.

my hax card is pretty shitty so it deletes my saves whenever i reload these games (and disgea ds ;_;). i played for a bit and theyre pretty fun. ill play them again once i upgrade.

i dont play fighting games but i know in my shounen heart that you should check out jump ultimate stars. it has been recommended on every single ds related topic i have seen outside of kyhm.

i remember you made a topic about elite beat agents once. if you havent played the ouendan games yet smack yourself and play them NOW. they are the best games ever.
other fun rhythm games that are worth checking out are rhythm tengoku gold (i think theres an english version - "rhythm heaven gold') and pinky street: kira kira music hour (aka kira kira pop princess). it will make you feel like less of a man but it is too fun to pass on. if you enjoy it there is a also the sequel - kira kira music nights.
youtube is full of samples.

As I recall the Jump ___ games were Smash Brothers-style fighters, which didn't sound too interesting, especially since I wouldn't be familiar with most of the characters. At least with the Bleach game I already pretty much knew I wanted to play as Kenpachi (And they did make him pretty awesome. All the other characters have fancy-pants special magic attacks, he's just really good at charging forward and hitting things with his sword. His special abilities mostly just involve momentarily holding himself back less, which I found amusing)

I got Ouendan after EBA to get more songs to play, then sadly lost it along with several hundred dollars worth of other DS games when the case I kept them all in went missing :'( I should probably look into this piracy business to replace them, not that I would normally do such a thing *hides large roms folder*, but then that would just depress me about the loss of my savegames. What's this about Ouendan games, though? EDIT: Oh, there's a sequel. Must have missed that.

the sequel is amazing. my favorite of the three. you reignite the motherfucking sun with motherfucking burning spirit. it does not get much better than this.

like i said, fighting games is not a genre i am interested in but it doesnt hurt to check out the gameplay with roms before you spend all that money to import it.
hell, if i was the buying type i would probably still use a hax cart and roms so i wont have to carry all of my precioussss games with me and potentially lose/ruin them.

speaking of games i like solely for their gameplay; i recommend 'the world ends with you'. it has annoying characters, cheesy and uninteresting plot and educational subtext (the nerve) but i still enjoyed it very very much. i think it was the first game i enjoyed enough to stop caring if i scratch my touchscreen.

Space invaders + rez = space invaders extr3me.

So good.

Metoid was good but a bit samey samey, but damn nice attempt at a freaking awesome game.

heroes of mana can suck my hairy balls.

So can FFXII:RW

You should already own mario kart as it's the best version yet.

Nanostray makes me want to cry big tears of why can't I not die.

Yoshi DS will never be as good as the Snes version, but it's alright.

Wario ware, play it all once, never look at it again, which is a shame. except the egg bouncing game.

FFTA II, awesome advance on the system, but just lacks something.

Plus, I need to get a DS hackymajigger.

I finally got to play a Nintendo Wii for more than five minutes. This is as close to a DS as I'm getting right now.
According to Wii-fit I weight 112kg. Which has managed to scare the shit out of me, so now I weigh 108kg.
