Hahaha. That was a crazy month. Every other day I was having to use the confirmation code shit, and that was before I toned it down.

I tried to get in contact with Rand back in 2008 when I was thinking of going to Belgium but I couldn't get through to him, not on his phone or by email. I do miss that crazy bastard. Things like Facebook have made it slightly easier to keep in contact with some people from those days, sadly things like Facebook have pretty much destroyed a lot of forums because of how convenient and centralised they are. Kind of pisses me off a bit.

This place is still one of my seven homepages (Facebook, Twitters and for some reason Livejournal are some of the others) and I don't see myself not having a link to it in the future. It's a special part of growing up online, I'm sure Hungry Beast will do a report on it someday, most likely one of those not fucking funny reports they do in the middle of every episode as part of their "make people cry" comedy show platform(for non-Australians Hungry Beast is a comedy news program/anarco-liberal propaganda outlet on TV that has one scary sad and miserable story in between four kind of amusing bits the problem is working out which part is going to be the serious one... you don't want to think that the expose on labia reduction surgery is a comedy bit... you just DON'T!).
I'm now on Twitter(@actorvious) and am still at Uni learning to be a librarian so I can stop young people from enjoying libraries. I do this to better the world.

Actor.

Cursory internet googlestalkery leads me to this page, which appears to be his.

Facebook is probably one of the worst things to happen to the internet, yes. (Kind of want to do a poll for "most evil tech company" with the options being Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and Google, but at this point FB would probably win pretty easily.)

How long has #en been dead, BTW? I logged on there the other day and it was totally empty.

[EDIT: Still browsing old threads. I'd completely forgotten how many ridiculous drama-sagas we've had -- everything had sort of merged into one Grey-related fiasco in my mind. And JESUS was I flaky. Half my posts were like, "HAY GUYS I'M GOING TO JAPAN OH NO WAIT BUT I'M LEAVING THE FORUM FOREVER UNTIL NEXT MONTH, OH AND I'M TOTALLY GAY NOW, LOLZ NOT REALLY P.S. I'M CHANGING MY NAME TO ZARATHUSTRA" etc. etc.]

Don't worry about it. Human dignity is purely an urban legend in the same vein as the electoral college or the clitoris. This is the internet (despite some early reports that it may, in fact, be Milwaukee) and you have to learn to take pride in your shame. Sick, sick baby-raping pride that most of us can only dredge up in real life with the help of hard liquor and a four-in-the-morning walk of shame gone horribly right.

You know, I still love this forum. Which I suppose makes this necrophilia and, ostensibly, an orgy... at least depending on whether or not I can convince the maggots to give oral a try.

Yes, themadthinker, I, too am missing this place as of late. Not having a substantial IRL social network and having legal access to alcohol probably helps with that.

Reddit is far too damn big. OTOH, over the years I've found two new groups of interesting individuals I can manage to put up with in the form of the DYM gaming clan ("doin' yo' mom"), all hilarious individuals and a not insignificant number of sociopaths, to the BRAVE Collective EVE online alliance, of which I am now, apparently, head diplomat of a group of 5000 individuals. ¬_¬ Holy fuck.

On the archiving front my Exocortex is a permanent cache of everything I've viewed online since 2001, basically since just before the Kyhm Forums existed. It's approaching 16 tibibytes of compressed and tagged data that I've been training neural networks on. (It can only do rudimentary "what's the first word that comes to your mind" type questions so far, though.) ¬_¬ Yes, I plan on creating an AI based on my online experience. Yes, this is likely a terrible idea.

I look forward to the 2014 reunion!
