Guys.

Freaking guys.

Freaking weddings.

So, um, we had to change the wedding date due to horrific and utterly unavoidable clashes. Like, a super shitty one that ruined a huge amount of planning we already did. And the only date we could get at the venue was August 30.

So I guess that means that I won't be able to make it out to DragonCon.

Which means at least you have one less person to take up a room space or something.

Ugh. Off to go hurl myself into traffic from all this BS or something.

As an update. I will be actually living in Atlanta by the time that the con occurs (moving in a month or so). So I will probably not need a hotel. I'll keep you up to date on where I'll be, if I can let you guys crash on my couches, etc.

1) I'm just hoping there won't be a problem with accommodations, seeing as there's nothing I can do about it anyway.
2) My current plan is to plan my schedule for this trip sometime in February, or even March.
3) I hope to arrive to Atlanta a day or two before the event starts so I won't be too jet-legged to enjoy it.

I have yet to get a room. I have, however, gotten the registration postcard for Gazing Rabbit (sorry, I'd have e-mailed, but I got it on my way out of the house for the trip and have only just now really integrated with the laptop again). I've also signed up for the room transfer list, so might get a room that way, and I continue to call the Hyatt. We may not end up with rooms until March or so.

If everyone else wants to crowd-source the area, and each call a single hotel looking for an open room until one opens, that might get us rooms faster. We will probably have to spread out.

I can probably keep 2 or 3 of you guys at my place. You can get to my house by public transit but it takes a little over an hour. Alternatively driving is possible and should take around 25 to 30 minutes.

I have heard from Rusty, who cannot seem to log in here, but he says he's on board to attend barring any client emergencies.

I have not yet managed to get a room at the Hyatt, but I am still calling them and waiting for openings. In the meantime, I plan to start calling other hotels. Rennya, have you had any success with hotel rooms at all? We might need to spread out the hotel-securing duties to get a better chance.

Hey, all you ancient internet folks that I sorta know!
My brain finally smashed a reminder into my conscious thought train that I should actually look in on this madness. For some reason, I thought the Dragon*Con dates overlapped a different summer event that I regularly attend with friends (PDXLAN) but I guess I'm confusing the dates with PAX Prime & Dragon*Con. Prime would be awesome but it isn't every year you meet up with the internet buddies with whom you spent way too much time with on a forum. For a 2nd time. Well, guess it's a 1st time for some.

Currently, I'd say put me in the Maybe category. Until I can put in for time off (6-months out is the earliest), I can't confirm till then.
1.) I presume that this is the badge thingy that will have to be bought to get into D*C?
2.) Room? Even if I don't know 100% I'll be going, can always toss money to help offset costs. :-D
3.) Guess I should start checking Facebook or here once again?

And since Impy asked for Ohayocon '05 pics (This was back in April '13, just over 7 years since I last check in on the forums), I dug up what I had mouldering in my imageshack account since.... just after the con, I guess. Sharing the memories! Enjoy.

So, okay... here's where we're at.

Poe and I have a room, because it is the only room I managed to snag when the Hyatt opened for reservations. By the time I got to the second room registration, site errors locked me out. So far, I have not been able to get another room at the Hyatt. I have not been trying for any of the other hotels, though.

Spring is generally when hotels start seeing cancellations. I think our best bet if we want to be in walking distance of the con is to have a team of people, each assigned one hotel to contact regularly. I will continue to nag the Hyatt... can anyone else afford to place a deposit on a room who would be willing to call and nag one of the other hotels? Assuming Skjie and Rennya have their own room, and Poe and I keep ours, I think we'll need a total of six rooms. If we wind up with more people beyond that, we'll find ways to accommodate. I think hotel money will be collected once we actually have hotel rooms to put people in, and I don't mind playing bank for it if that's what people are comfortable with. Given the party atmosphere and the fact that Dragon Con after dark tends to require ID for entry (like a hotel keycard), I think it would be best if we aimed for accommodations near the con, rather than something that would require driving. Except for Omni, who has his own place (though parking may be an issue).

Everyone seems to be still kinda up in the air on attendance, with the exception of Gazing Rabbit, Wolfie, and Omni (all of whom have registered already). Poe has requested a guest badge, but has not been awarded that or a table yet. My badge will come with his, whether we buy at the last minute or get artist badges or whatever.

Badge prices will continue to increase the closer to the con you get, so I would strongly recommend getting yours now.

Hey, I've been watching the thread for aaages (I watch EVERYTHING still), and actor finally poked me into actually replying. Unfortunately, I don't expect I will be able to make it to dragoncon. Last year when I first noticed this, I had time but not the money. Now I've got the money, but not the time. It'd be interesting to attend this time, considering that at Ohayocon there was only four or five of us that could (legally) drink...

Oh, and Impy, feel free to use the photos I sent to you however you wish.

@Impy - Suggestion to maybe have the 'Who is/may be going' list and the room list added to the first post of the thread? Just easier to find and keep all the relevant information in one spot.
