Having just seen the new Eminem movie, 8 Mile, I feel I should mention to anyone with an inquiring mind, that should you decide to see this... keep in mind that it's where I live.

The trailer park, I have passed.

The store on the bus route, I have bought b33r at. (And the one where... well... you'll see...)

The plant where he works, I have picked a friend up at.

I have been to raves near where the battles were held, and even walked down that ally a few times with friends.

Seeing 8 Mile will be different for everyone. Hell, seeing any movie is. Some people will ike it, some will hate it.

I personally liked it, and plan to see it again. I could have used *supresses urge to spoil* more detail in areas, but overall, it was a great movie...

And for me, a revolutionary one.

Sure, a movie like 8 Mile shouldn't be too revolutionary, you say... but it was. Though not in the way you might think.

That was the first movie I have seen that has hit so close to home. Maybe not in the scene, as I am not into rap all that much. But in the feel. I know that location. I know those places. I know how the people are, and I know how things go.

I had a reason to want to watch 8 Mile, but now I've got a new reason...now if only I had the fucking money to blow on a God Damn ticket.

Now if only I could find a consenting adult to take me to a movie theater so I could see it . . .

My parents don't like R movies, and they DON'T like Eminem.

So unless I find someone willing to take me, I'm outta luck.

Would buy a ticket, but I have better things to spend my $8.25 on. Like a web server. And Miyazaki's "Spirited Away".

I'll go and see it when it actually come out over here. But from the early reviews i've seen it looks pretty good.

I was going to watch it, but was warned away. From what I hear, the movie is good but ruined by minor details that stretch your disbelief a bit.

Whatever these details are, I wouldn't know, because there was nothing like that as far as I could tell.

And I;m not the only one. *shrugs*

But this thread wasn't so much "Hey, go see a movie, ahyuk... it be cool... huh huh..." No, it was a thread saying "There's this movie out there that is made where I live and if you are curious about where I come from and what affects my life, then you might want to check it out."

*shrugs* Go figure... people thought I was telling them to go see a movie.
