You all have pretty good taste (I'm assuming) so please reccomend a good anime for me (or anyone else) to check out.

I prefer action/adventure-oriented titles, but I'm willing to at least check out info on anything

forgive my bad grammar and spelling

Hmm. .

1. Vandread. My personal favorite; huge, HUGE amounts of fanservice, plus interesting characters and plot!
2. Full Metal Panic. Goodly amounts of fanservice, great plot and characters. The namesake for my rifle is from this series.
3. Hellsing. Sort of an odd series, but fun as hell to watch.

Those are the only series I can think of off the top of my head that I really, really liked. The Escaflowne movie was really good too.

Samurai Deeper Kyo - Mostly for the same reasons everyone loves Hellsing. Kyo rocks in the same way that Alucard rocks, except with a nodachi instead of dual pistols.

Naruto - It has ninjas. Ninjas rock the house. Like... Rock it to the side, and stuff. And sometimes up and down. I love the lil ninjas... I love them good.

Initial D - Action... With a twist. It's car racing. But you'll love it. Because if you don't, you'll die. It's medically proven, and stuff.

... I agree with Rupert's choices, except for FMP! Tessa was the only character that I ~really~ liked... Hehe...

I have to agree with Ezelek, Initial D totally owns.

Cowboy Bebop is good as well for action/COMEDY.

Outlaw Star(what I saw of it) is also good for both comedy and action.

Evangelion, watch this show, its one of the best Anime ever, ever.

Read or Die. Nothing like having half the people with English names "(Japanese part which this idiot Gaijin does not under stand) THE PAPER (ever more japanese) Ms DEEP (something about books)"

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Actor.

Not to change the focus of this thread, but recently I was shown some episodes of Tenchi Muyo...I know some people hate the show, and others love it...It seems alright to me...Anyways, I'm kinda wonderin' if I should look into other Tenchi anime, or does the whole thing go to hell like so many other franchises?

Try:

Cowboy Bebop: Adventure with comic points.

Battle Angel: Dark, cyberpunk, bloody, 'nuff said.

Ghost in the Shell: see Battle Angel

Iria (Can't remember sub title): Lots o action

Neon Genesis Evangelon: Adventure. Not chock-full-o-action, but required viewing for otaku-hood. *heh*

Birdie the Mighty: Adventure/Action. I just threw this one in for kicks.

For listings you can try:

www.animenation.com/ Its a store but they have pretty good descriptions of whats out there.

www.animefu.com/ From the guys that brought you /. User reviews, their database is still growing but its pretty much got the basics covered.

Iria: Zairum the Animation

It was orginally based on a Live action Japanese Film called "Zairum" in which Iria battle the Beast. Sort of like Alien. The Anime Focuses on Iria more then the creature.

... I wouldn't recommend Iria to someone, even if I hated them a real lot..... Well, maybe a real lot, but not someone I don't hate. With a passion and stuff. Man, that was such a bad movie... I personally blame it all on Mad.

o_O ????

He said action. I give action.

I enjoyed Iria, I don't think its the best but I had fun watching it. Suggesting something like SELain might break the poor guy's brain at this stage. *evil grin*

Thankee for the note, Kat.

By Mad... I mean, Madadric. It'd be a long and complicated story, I'm sure.

I just thought Iria was... lacking. In all areas. It exceeded in disappointing at every turn. I was impressed by that.

Why the hell didn't I say Inuyasha? Or King of Bandits Jing? Or... RANMA! XD

Mebby cause Ranma's being bashed to death on the altar of hyper piety in another thread.

Welcome,

I've owned Iria since if first came out on video. I was a huge fan of Masazu Katsura's works for a while and was the only person at the local anime club who noticed the joke about Karen's costum in DNA^2 If you don't know she is walking around in Iria's cloths because she watched the Zairem movie and thought that was how everyone in the 20th centery dressed >^_^< I also almost had my hands on the Live action movie (which is worse then bad but I wanted it part of my collection next to Iria) grrr someone bought it only hours before I could get my hands on it and never saw the dvd again.

As for Lain it is only a mind melt if you let it. If you want really warped you tell him to find Milk Closet and laugh as you want his face twist in confusion. *grins*

Well I am done my art for the day (yippy new poster finished!!) now I have less the 6 hours before I have to be up again... fun fun.

Happy anime hunting.. jaa ne

Oh God, I thought I was the only one... XD I have long been a fan of Iria and especially DNA^2. They were among the first anime that I was introduced to, back when I started getting heavy into it, that is.

In fact, it was DNA^2 that sealed into me the idea of wanting to be a voice actor. I just HAD to play Momonari... *sighs* Unfortunately it's apparently being released now already having been done... But at least I can finally have better quality copies. ^^ *nods*

Hmmm since no one has said it yet, FLCL or Furi Kuri, alien women beating the crap outa stuff with kick ass guitars, some comedy and a red robot that eats children and beats the shit out of other robots.
Iria was awsome, or at least the series was, for only 6 episodes (like FLCL) it did alot more than most action anime I've seen.
Mmmmm Hellsing. Vampires.
Vandread. I loved it, for once a mecha show that ended in a bad ass clash of battleships. And good use of CGI for an anime.
Thats all I can think of right now, I'll go check my collection and get back to ya.

Mm lain. It is one of my fav animes. I think I really bounded with Lain. I like messed up vaguley religious stuff. Stuff that deals with mythos. Eva is cool too.

Funny ones I enjoy are Elhazard and Those who hunt elves.

I absoloutely loved the original series, (Go Monomari-san! Yeah! Megaplayboy!) but I could not stand the three part OVA that was also created. It was like they decided to push the show to the ground, and kick it in the ribs repeatedly, for no apparant reason. Although, my extreme dislike of Ami is probably a giant factor in that...

Vendo: I never mentioned Furi Kuri, because it's not really a "introduction" type anime. While it is, in my opinion, the greatest show the Gainax have ever produced (with the possible exception of Ebichu), it's not really something that I'd recommend for wannabe-anime-fans to watch, not until they've got a few titles under their belt, and they're comfortable with a nice setting of utter madness and chaos.

Time for me to shut up.
