The theory probably applies to idiots though. But that's because they tend to not use their higher faculties of thought. Just like this guy doesn't.

Quite frankly I wouldn't want to be around any people that behave like in that person's "theory".

The fact that the ladder revolves completely around sex rather pisses me off too. There's more to a relationship than sex, dammit. Though some people think that's all there is to it....

If no, move on, thing, but I believe that you can be friends with a girl, and even still be sexually attracted to her, without it ruining the friendship.

Every time someone does crap like this it makes the rest of us look bad.

There are guys out there who are at least partly human and will treat girls with respect, there are girls out there who will act like a bitch just to get a rise out of you.

Its all a matter of balance, in the last few months I've met about two girls I'd like to go out with, not only because I think/thought that they were attractive(one was a goth), but also because we had a little bit in common here and there, webcomics, anime and some books we'd both enjoyed.

I didn't ask one out because she was already taken(I found out soon enough, didn't stop me talking with her however, if only to be polite) and the other I couldn't ball up the courage, maybe next time.

On the other hand my brother hasn't had more than a week go by without having a girlfriend, even though any idiot can see he is never going to last with any of them.
I've seen stuff like this happen way to much, people become obsessed with having a girlfriend/Boyfriend and will latch onto anyone to achieve it(I mean my last girlfriend was like that, she barely knew me and essentially threw herself at me, and then she dumped me because I only talked about Anime, Games, Politics, the internet and how much I thought the Mullet was stupid, its the topics I know most about and she had no idea about any of them, other than the mullet [interestingly enough the day she dumped me I found my self on the set of the crocodile hunter movie wondering what had happened to city hall]), she pissed me off and today I can barely stand her, even though I at least act social to her, out of a misformed sense of respect.

What I'm saying is, even if this guy is right, and 99.9999% of people on both sides of the gender divide are like this, at least you can take comfort in that when you find that perfect person, you've beaten the odds.

Most of what this guy says is true, but he has forgotten several critical things:

1. A man can make an active choice to take a woman off the ladder in order to preserve a friendship. He may still look at her sexualy but it doesn't take much willpower to disregard this.

2. If you are in a relationship with someone, you are their friend. Otherwise, it is an abusive or loveless relationship.

3. Sleeping with a friend doesn't make them any less of a friend. It just complicates things.

4. Knowing and believing in this would make me really depressed. I wouldn't be surprised if he was suicidal.

I didnt treat my last Gf nearly as good as i should have, she was miserable constantly, and i dumped her because i felt so bad that i was holding her back and shes still trying to get back with me.
